ECNL has the right mixture and will continue to grow.

Kids and parents who dont want balance for child =2%. This is why GDA is failing. Top players are multisport athletes and kids with some balance in life. Our US National team is loaded with these types. If you dont believe me then go look. GDA is US Soccers money and control grab. Fight the power.
GDA = pro environment for US girls, like many of the top boys/mens clubs in the world.
ECNL = far more casual training environment, which is fine, except when it tries to block the pro environment so rich girls can have their cake and eat it too.
GDA is generally not a money loser for anyone involved--it's more expensive to run, and often subsidized (including here in Oregon). Most local clubs have to pay most of their expenses out of club fees.
Both involve too much travel.

DA- US Soccer Academy, not available at any local Oregon club. You Must tryout with MLS Timbers or NWSL Thorns to be considered for selection. Subsidized by them not you the parent.
Any other option than the DA is called Club Soccer- Beauty of the local neighborhood club option, it's your money and it's your choice. Talent is not a deciding factor, just the ability to pay will do. Lot's of different leagues these kiddo clubs register for and it is confusing, but without the USDA stamp on the league, be skeptical. Kinda sucks, actually.
Good Luck

Dreaming that the US Soccer DA is going to fall apart is hardly american or realistic.

But the USYS and US CLub leagues are again stuck in a bad place this year and future years with so many top clubs gone to the DA, USYS kinda avoids the question and moves on. US Club folks can't seem to deal with this at all. Kinda scary.
