Girls DA isn't as good as USYS - fact! Just look at Thornz Asylum, probably 6th or 7th best teams in Oregon. ECNL is #1, has been for many years, and will continue to be #1 for many more years - that's what you get when ALL the best clubs in the country are in your league.

Yes the NWSL clubs were the first one offered spots that’s why Portland got in so early and none of our local club applications were considered. “B’ teams of the DA top clubs fill out the remains of the US Club league these days. When all the clubs now in the DA were part of the US Club league the Oregon clubs were simply fodder. This development allows Oregon clubs to play similar talent squads but comes with an enormous price tag for travel.Families are left scratching their collective heads, why are we paying to travel to play teams weaker than those in our own backyard. It’s truth stranger than fiction.

What I love about the US Club league is they keep their bottom feeder clubs. They were especially needed after the DA club rapture of 2017.

These bottom feeder US clubs were subject to removal for being horrible, suddenly became upper class in this sinking ship (US Club).

Both are good options. While it’s true that top clubs are leaving GDA after one year and some never joined, Socal has good clubs in both leagues. Both leagues will survive and do fine as long as parents can be led to believe a patch can make the player. As always, a great player can play anywhere.

Pure greed was US Soccer starting a girls GDA to begin with. As with most greedy endeavors this one was poorly planned and implemented. That is what happens when you do almost anything for the wrong reasons.

Not playing in the DA allows a club to have no oversight or accountability for player development from US Soccer. Instead they choose the 'buy in' of naive parents to pad their bottom line, you are correct this is profit decision, based on $$$ into club's coffers.

Oh wait a minute, new crop of DA developed USMNT players will make things right soon.Problem still exist with the ECNL developed players ruining USWNT but that shall change soon enough with GDA.
