GPS Thanksgiving Showcase looks like a waste of time in U11. Maybe the coaches from the top teams should ask each other whether they plan to play their teams in ccertain tournaments before signing up. MPS tournaments are generally expensive to top it all off as an even bigger waste.
Why don't the top teams just rent some indoor time and play each other? Is it that hard to coordinate? I would have to believe all teams involved would benefit. No standings, no playoffs, just good, high level competition for the kids and coaches.
Two Thanksgiving tournaments in a row for 10 year olds?
Racking up gotsoccer points at its best. Jees!
This is what "happened" last year:
Saturday, November 17, 2012
BETHESDA SC BLUE 3 SMYS SMU WOLF PACK 2
NEFC CENTRAL UNITED U11 BOYS 2 LEHIGH VALLEY UNITED 01 4
BETHESDA SC BLUE 5 LEHIGH VALLEY UNITED 01 2
NEFC CENTRAL UNITED U11 BOYS 1 SMYS SMU WOLF PACK 5
Sunday, November 18, 2012
BETHESDA SC BLUE 9 NEFC CENTRAL UNITED U11 BOYS 0
LEHIGH VALLEY UNITED 01 1 SMYS SMU WOLF PACK 3
BETHESDA SC BLUE 4 PWSI COURAGE 01 RED 1
There is nothing wrong with losing at this age. However, I am curious what the OP means by "making sure this will not happen again this year." Mandatory attendence? Practicing until midnight? Tranquilzers for the parents?
