some whose kids don't get offers will be quite frank. you can learn from them as well. if you think they're making stuff up to cover up then think about the message opposite of what they're telling you

Not only do they talk a lot but they brag about their kid's supposed "full ride"

Listen, on every team there's "that mom" who wants her daughter (who's usually a perfectly nice kid) to be the rockstar. Usually this kid is a perfectly fine player, probably in the 2nd tier (player 7-14 on the team). Now, just by way of example on how this plays out in the real world, let's just pretend this mom is from Westport, skinny, bleach blonde hair, still pretty good looking as these things go. She's always sitting next to the coach at the team dinner, not eating mind you, but drinking white win. She kisses arse better than most. She also loves to take shots at the top kids, the ones better than her daughter. Not outright digs, but not so subtle either b/c, frankly, she's not too subtle of a person. She usually does it one-on-one with a few other moms. Never anything outright, but you might get whispers back from some people. See, if this lady EVER gets wind of your kid trying out somewhere else, she's letting the coach and other parents know. She's just passing along some information she heard, see? If it helps her kid that someone else's kid is now in the dog house, oh well! That's why you take the advice that was given by the OP and keep your head down and go about your business without talking to anyone.
