The thread OP never really said what he/his kid was looking to get out of it.
If you listen to national team scouts, Webinars on this topic they all say the same thing:

If you are good enough we will find you. Whether that is DA, ECNL, PDP or ODP they all give you exposure. ODP is probably less of a commitment and a lower overall cost but when added to club fees it may be close to a wash.

Typically the same players are ID'd at ODP, ID2, NTCs e.t.c. Smart and coaches will encourage players to attend all platforms which can help them be identified.

As an ID platform, ODP works pretty well, (look at the # of ODP kids in Revs/Bolts academies or recruitment trends of Stars/NEFC when regional rosters are released) but the training piece is an unnecessary and outdated model.

FWIW my son enjoyed the program and coaching when he was involved.

Sorry! Never saw this. She did not go to tryouts - when we looked at the training schedule it was going to interfere with something she wanted to do more. Problem solved :)

For 2005G, 44 attended 1st tryouts, 37 attended 2nd, some overlap, some new faces. Tryout results to be announced by 12/1. I don't know how many they take, presumably 1 team of 22 or so, I would think. A lot of skilled players, not easy to make this team.

Don't have a kid in that age group. I know the turnout for 2006 was strong.
