Attending a camp may not be necessary to demonstrate on-field abilities, but it can express interest, and provide opportunity to gauge cultural fit.
A private visit does the same.

Need to be able to differentiate between interest in your kid and interest in your wallet for summer camp income. If they really want to recruit your kid, the communication will be specific and personal or a strong contact through your daughter's club coach (e.g., "we're really interested in Susie. Do you know what schools she's looking at and whether she'd looked at our school?"). The specific communication to your kid will mention plays that she made against specific teams or skills that she exhibited that you know aren't generic (e.g., "she did a great job winning balls late in the game vs. xyz", NOT "we love how competitive she is").

Not soccer but athletics and local, prayers and condolences to the Holy Cross Rowing team, coaches and staff. A local standout lost her life in the accident and others injured too.

We post about a variety of things but nothing more sobering then a family loosing their child. All the rest (sports, scholarships, etc.) does not matter. God Speed. Our hearts are with you.

A reminder to be nice to each other. All of this comes and goes so quickly.

So true. Be proud of your kids, but be thankful that you have them. Stories like this certainly put a bad game in perspective.

I think it also provided a good benchmark for those in attendance... they were top-quality players and clearly stronger than most others attending the clinic.
There absolutely are benefits to participating - you get a better sense of where you fit, spend more time with the coaching staff, current players, time on campus etc. You can get the latter with a visit as well, but not the soccer fit part. Are you keeping up with current players (or not), or are you even in the top group they often split off from the rest? However, now that the recruit window is really tight you may have to prioritize for time and financial reasons.

What if the coach reached out to your coach but some of the current collge player's youth soccer resumes seem higher level then those of your player. There are a few that do seem equivalent. Is that a sign they are just drumming up biz for the id clinic? The coach did speak to the player's club coach but some of the players on his current college team are very accomplished and some are international. Going to the ID clinic is expensive and far...requires traveling with an overnight stay.

              This is a HS sophomore.

Definitely sounds like they're on the edge. Looking at other player bios can be very helpful, especially looking at who actually plays ,not just is on the roster. Did the club coach push on how desired your player really is? Try and get an answer. The coach may have seen something special that intrigues them that can't be seen "on paper." Also, is the school itself a top pick that the player really wants and would want to visit regardless? If it's atop school for her it may be worth going. If it's mid or lower level probably not. She still has some time to decide and this is a time when lists are fluid. The spring showcase(s) will help too - if they come and watch her again that's a good sign.

Ty. Sounds like you have been through this before. The timing of the first ID clinic is middle of HS midterms and it was stressed to coach that academics are critical so we will focus on exams this round and attend the next ID clinic which is after the spring showcases.

Sounds like a good plan. He may still be interested even if he doesn't watch her again, just doesn't have the time next showcase.

Absolutely school comes first. Plus I'm a big believer that some things happen for a reason.
It's stressful but things usually work out the way they should.

Just curious if 2022/Sophmores have received feedback or interest from coaches in FL via their club yet. Just wondering if we should have heard something from our coach or should reach out to him to find out more information. New to the whole recruiting process. D had reached out to a few schools that came to see her play on at least one day. Don't know much more than that currently.

Mine heard from 3 via her club coach, 2 that have been in touch w coach throughout the past year who were just reiterating their interest and 1 new one from a school my D never reached out to. About 6 or 7 girls on her team had a similar response...
That being said, 2 or 3 of her "fingers crossed" schools have come to at least 2 games each at Greer & Sanford, but not a peep other than the standard-"Hi (players name), we'd love to see you at our ID clinic!" email that they send to everyone.
