You could ask, "hey, you're out of line, why don't you go wait in your car until the game finishes?"

You could yell, stop, yell some more, and order the parent to leave.
    The parent might comply.
    The parent might say, "no."

The parent is not obligated to comply and you are not empowered to require the parent to comply.

If they force the club to take it out on the kid they stink as a parent. But I think we already know that.

They can be required to leave the field. It happens

Future events are not as cut and dried.

          Parents and Laws

Lets get something straight here. First I'm an attorney in Connecticut. Second my son plays for a soccer club in the area, a rather famous one, and one that is also rather crappy. Its a DA club that I'm currently suing.

          Anyhow..... here are the facts.

          1. Nobody can REMOVE a parent from land besides the police or local authorities. If a parent gets violent, others can subdued the parent and essentially make a citizen's arrest. But if the parent is NOT being violent, then its a situation where social sanctions apply.

The ref can stop the game, and halt it entirely until the parent leaves. If the parent doesn't leave, the game is canceled and a forfeit is given to the parent's team. If a parent won't leave and the center ref won't make that call, the coach has to bench the child.

The club is permitted by bylaws to excuse a family/player from their club at anytime. They don't even need a reason. Its a private club.

Those are the FACTS. They are in fact the LAW.

Which is what I was saying. But, I know these things from reasonable administration of youth soccer and am not a lawyer.

In my experience (and i've only seen this 3 or 4 times in nearly 8 years of being a ref), the peer pressure of the other parents gets the offender to leave.

In one case, I had two dads from the same team yelling at each other (not me or the players). It started to become a distraction and was about to get physical. I issued two warnings. Then I stopped the game and said if they do not leave the field I would not continue the game. They yelled and were BOTH about to come after me. It was the other parents that grabbed them and escorted them off the field.

Even the most vile adults are an exception. Most teams have some rational parents who don't want the game to end because of another parent's stupidity.
