Some of the top clubs in the country are now going back to the ECNL. Interesting! Is the GDA failing this bad, or is it truly just the first year hiccups (per the GDA) that any new league would have going national? It should be interesting to see what both leagues do going into the 2018 fall season. The ECNL has been making the headlines with these big clubs returning to their ranks, but the GDA just seems to be doing damage control and little else. Those players and parents in these two leagues please weigh in on this matter.

Well for girls the primary objective is college as you make little to nothing if you aren’t on the National team. Clubs can also earn more money in ecnl with more age groups. I think No hs and and the combined age group hurts DA but people will eventually get over it. Only thing DA has going for it is they can essentially black ball any team that’s not in DA in a few years like they pretty much do for boys.
Boys can actually can actually make a living going pro and not depend being on the NT.

Let's see...how long until the bashing begins? My bet is by post #10. Any takers?

If you want to see which league is in damage control though just look at FC Prime and Miramar. That is the new caliber of ECNL club these days? GDA has it's own issues to sort through but they have added franchises so the total number of GDAs will be about the same in it's second year as in it's first. Personally, I think GDA should have started with one or two age groups at the lower end and them expanded up. But, whatever.

There were 1507 ECNL athletes in the class of 2017. Of that number, 1159 are playing soccer in college. That's ≈ 77%. Of the ones playing in college, 793 are playing DI (53% of all players and 69% of those that decided to play in college). 365 are playing DII, DIII, NAIA, or other. That's 24% of all ECNL players from the class of 2017 and 31% of those deciding to play in college.
Unlike you, I have a source for my numbers and that source is the ECNL; http://www.eliteclubsnationalleague....class-of-2018/

^^ sorry, those numbers are for the class of 2018. If you go back and look at the numbers for '17 they're higher but not appreciably so. The drop is due to more players deciding that playing in college isn't all that and a bag of chips. Often it is the dream of the parents that their kids play in college. It isn't necessarily what the players want. And, amazingly, when DI athletes were surveyed about their experiences as a student-athlete, they're a lot less happy than athletes of lower divisions - DII & DIII.

Some are getting extra incentives like being allowed to play 2 teams in ECNL for each division. A couple of other clubs are going back to ECNL because there is a better profit margin and less restrictions for ECNL play.

When you post incorrect information that is easily disproved, not only do you show yourself as foolish or a liar, it makes anything else along your side of the debate lose credibility. GDA had 69 clubs with 279 teams for the 2017-18 season and now have 73 clubs with 290 teams going into the 218-19 season.
There is no denying the ecnl found clubs going back is sucky but in the end, GDA is 3 fold the success ecnl boys has been in the 1st year and will eventually be well rooted. I will wager when many of the other ecnl clubs want what those clubs got to come back, you will find yourself to have only accelerated what what was already turning out to be a watered down version in kin with NPL.

From another board - it doesn't include adding Seacoast in for Stars in NE.
