Originally posted by Unregistered View PostTA should set the model, they should be the club others want to emulate. Clearly local clubs don't have the financial backing to play nationally like TA does once they hit U15, but playing regionally against teams from Northern Washington is a good thing. Why does TA think they have a monopoly on the model for building successful ... oh wait ... it is a monopoly in this area. My bad, forgot that fact.
Clearly our local clubs don't have the coaching or players cache to play nationally like TA does. Finances are not even part of it. If we had clubs that could compete and develop at a National level they would be invited in and parent how would pay.
Since the Timbers pay the freight for the DA, they bring in players from outside the region since our community isn't producing what they want.
This isn't a slam it's a geographic and historical reality.

Little TA is driving up to Seattle area nearly every other Saturday for nine months. No showcase in Vegas. The NL model actually follows the academy mission in younger ages of less travel and when you do it’s for more meaningful games. Not just dragging your burnt out 12 year old to Seattle every weekend, after training four days a week, to blow out non-mls teams.
NPL NW looks just like the Timbers Younger DA teams do. But the NPL offers Oregon local average clubs the chance to be in on the fun. Unlike the Washington DA that has a much higher bar for inclusion.

The U16/17s have the worst goal differential in the nation after 5 games. U18/19 are one off the worst goal differential in the nation. These aren't losses, they are full on beat downs
TA U15 last year was all Oregon except for 2 bench players. They finished middle of the pack. U16/17 this year is close to 50% out of state but hey Oregon kids can't hang.
What is it going to take for you people to understand that the Timbers, from the top down, simply don't care at all about this academy. Maybe they need to hang a banner on the King St training building.

MLS Youth Development Academies play week in and week out the best youth teams in the United States.
Don't get yourself twisted, accept reality, it will all wprk out in the end.

So then why would you continue to perpetuate the fraudulent belief that TA is playing the best teams nationwide? Are the 05 and 06 teams traveling the US? No. They are traveling I-5 and playing teams that are okay. If you knew anything at all, you would know this. Look at the teams that TA played in the DA showcase last November (same showcase Oregon DA was at) and look how TA did. Look at the Oregon DA teams results. No difference. In fact, Crossfire played collectively against tougher competition and did not lose. (They also did not win either...all draws.) My point is you give the TA a pass and feed into the hype, when you should demand better. So stop.
You have your own issues, which you must consider dealing with yourself.
All the best.

The TA played in the showcase against other MLS Academies. We all played other little local DA’s.
Our little DA group isn’t bad. The top little DA teams wouldn’t even come close to winning the Northwest league against Seattle teams. The best local, little DA team so far was last years Vantucky 04’s. That team would throttle every local U14 DA team this year. The 05 group is a soft group.

The bottom line is all of the best players locally are in the DA by U15. At every level they're doing it better than every other local club. Go watch a training at any age. It's faster, more complex, and at a higher intensity than anything else around here.
If you're truly suggesting top players should pass on an invite to the TA because they could get better from a local club, then good luck to you.
