    It’s almost college season

Aug 1st kicks off the college season with teams all starting to report in. Plenty of CT players getting ready to leave.
    A lot of questions
    1. UConn having replaced coaching legend LT will they get back to the NCAA tournament?
    2. Hartford is the favorite in the America East Conference - time for UH to get back on tourney
    3. Will new boss at SHU MM be able to turn the ship in year 1?
    4. CCSU has the talent to win NEC this year. But will they?
    5. Can Yale improve on their 11 win season and build off it?
    6. How long will it take for FU new coach DB to turn Fairfield back on top of MAAC
    7. QU has been knocking on the door but can they finally get by Monmouth

No resume whatsoever, really? Please explain what kind of experience you’d want if you were the AD at SHU.

“Micros has spent the past seven seasons as the head coach at Post University, his second stint as the Eagles head coach. Under his tutelage, the Eagles have made six playoff appearances, three ECAC Tournament semifinals and won the ECAC in 2015. Micros was named the 2014 Coach of the Year in the CACC...”

were you expecting candidates from UNC or Duke or and OW Dad coach?

Progression from D2 to D1. Handled scholarships and runs the largest youth club in CT. Pretty decent experience.

New Fairfield coach is moving up from D3 so arguably a harder transition.

These are struggling mid major programs, these are both nice options for coaching.

Super hire for an aspiring/struggling D1 program. What an exhaustive search they did. They really got lucky here. Good thing they didn't try to overreach and get someone with a little more extensive D1 experience that may have been an ACC AC and lower tier (if their is such a thing) D1 HC. Sorry, I am a different poster and it really doesn't look like the AD accomplished much here. I guess it's why they are who they are every year. I would have looked a little harder .... perhaps outside of FC or the state even.

SHU is a good stepping stone for someone like that. That's how it works. There's a pretty clear cut laddering system with college coaching careers He's not going to step into a HC position at a top program, but can at a lower level one. Nor is a highly qualified AC from a Duke or Stanford going to step down a notch to be a HC at SHU. They can do better than that in terms of program quality or division prestige.

If the school doesn't care, the AD isn't going to care either.

No way, this type of school is a perfect stepping stone for a young ACC AC for 5 or 6 years until they get some recognition and then move on as a HC to a big conference.

How do you know what kind of search they did? Any idea how many candidates there were? An ACC assistant isn’t coming to SHU. They’ll go bigger.
