That's the difference between a true pro academy and a pay-to-play youth club. Right there.

At a true pro academy, parents are not customers and don't get to choose squat.

Unfortunately, the Thorns aren't running a true pro academy--as long as they are cashing checks from mom and dad, they have to put up with parental demands.

And the economics of the sport for women mean that girls' soccer might continue to be dominated by rich grrl tastes and desires; without a viable pro pathway it won't be anything more than a leisure activity for those not born with a silver spoon.

But you can bet your backside that the Timbers don't give a hoot about the opinions of parents, nor does any other serious pro academy.

And to be honest I doubt that Peregrine really cares that much about GDA vs ECNL.

LOL: you Nancy boy, parents always choose; the only reason you chose DA is cause playtime was easier to come by for lack of talent because parents chose ECNL. Time to put the big kid boots on and step up to the big leagues “ECNL” good luck....

            Hahahah

Losing to mediocre teams 7-1 or playing nearly everyone’s b team in Ecnl doesn’t equal big leagues, it just makes you an idiot. A gullible one at that.

Good luck with trying to keep up the propaganda to hide the truth.

From reading a few posts here, tell me if I understand it correctly.

ECNL is the 3rd ranked league behind DA and something else.

ECNL is a scam so coaches can travel and feel important.

ECNL players were maybe premier TTL, maybe lower at big clubs who were told their daughter (usually its girls or it's all girls because girls have the craziest parents) has a chance to someday play for the USWNT if she got seen in ECNL.

              CU is PCU.
Um, you don't understand correctly. Thanks for playing.

If the ECNL players from Oregon get D1 commits this summer, then I’d say it was worth it for them. Same with Thorns Academy and their showcase and OYSA teams going to Surf. We’ll soon see which program is doing the best with college commitments.

Lack of talent issues all over Oregon. Just look at FC Portland ECNL’s record. Several age groups have not won a single game. CU ECNL have done much better.

What if you find out that some teams have D1 walk ons like at CU or kids from thorns academy that aren’t even being looked at by D3 schools...

Fact of the matter is that some clubs will have some good teams and bad teams.

History has shown these past years that you don’t need to lie your way around the country to get a two bit spot on a college team.

History has shown that D1 commits come from everywhere...

History has shown that d2 commits come from everywhere

History has shown that while a top OYSA team might have much better commits in a given year than a Ecnl team

History has shown that thorns academy will say they committed a lot of people while they were from other clubs like cu or Fcp or OYSA teams on their final year.

Face it. Your Ecnl coach lied to you when you can’t even get a d2 scholarship and some random OYSA team committed players to the top d2 school.

OYSA coach is an idiot if they think you get More exposure in OYSA than Ecnl.

Da coach is an idiot if they think losing 7-0 a game is helpful.

#2 ranked??? Hahaha I wouldn’t use that ranking system to justify much simply because it would show how mediocre you are compared to others.

You don’t get credit for playing in a weak Ecnl league that 75% of the best are gone. Sorry, let everyone know when you actually beat someone worth while instead of citing b team weak Ecnl teams as your competition.

                      No one is fooled.
Those crappy ECNL teams just happen to be way better than any team in USYS or GDA. Just the facts.

Fill everyone in. Or are you here to answer the thread on why are ECNL coaches and parents so insecure?

                        One thing that is clear...

There's a whole lot of people that think their status as a soccer coach, or their club, is something special, unique, or significant. It's not. Maybe two rungs above car salesman and one below a carny.

I'd like to hear your pitch on ECNL. Maybe somebody here has their checkbook ready to send you and a bag of balls in search of USWNT and D1 scholarship dreams.

History has also shown that Thorns academy will put players on their "commit" list who are accepted to a school and have no intention of playing college and have never been recruited by the college coaches (See Stanford).

History has shown that exposure = expense. Generally speaking, the tip top OYSA teams (see Salmon Creek 00's, CFC 01's, Wa Timbers 02's, and GPS 03's) can deliver exposure similar to ECNL. But it will be at the same cost because at the end of the day travel is travel and going to Surf Cup costs money whether you travel with an OYSA or ECNL team.

History has shown that Oregon DA (see Thorns) is cheaper. However, unless you are top 8 on the team, you will be saving money on soccer fees and travel, only to go to the tip top events where coaches in the powerhouse programs will be able to see how well your kid handles holding down left bench. If recruitment is your kid's goal and she isn't top 8 on her team (in the coach's eyes, NOT mommy's or daddy's eyes), the "cheap" of Thorns academy is akin to lighting your money on fire.

Finally, history has shown that not all commits are equal, even at the same level. Being a d1 or d2 "commit" can mean no money, some money, or a decent amount of money. For the vast majority of Oregon born players, d1 "commit" means the coach said "sure, you can come play here...but I don't have any money for you." That's not necessarily a bad thing, but families need to determine their needs. Does your player need athletic money to help pay for college? if so, you are honestly probably better off going the NAIA or JC route. No shame in that whatsoever. I personally know three players who turned down decent money D2 offers to walk on to D1 programs. Their families were able to make that work. I also know a player who turned down a small money D2 offer to play D3 at a school she loved for a coach she really connected with. But that's a personal decision for each family and absolutely should not be judged, especially by anonymous jerks (including me) on TS.

                            I agree. I’m glad you’ve realized this.

Gda took most of the best teams and USYS has 20-30 teams better than anything Oregon could put together.

This isn’t rocket science. Just google it.

Each league already has a few D1 recruits, interesting to see which league gets more.

Tough week for CU at ECNL. Now that Crossfire is all in with ECNL, this is CUs last run at Champions League
