Well said, our DA club didn’t even send kids, coaches wanted them to stay for 1 more year

Any feedback from someone at this club? Why were they able to send so many players to the Inter tryouts?

Dude they called all the doc there was no scouting, good for them for supporting the kids and giving them the experience that’s how it should be. Allot of the clubs didn’t do that, specifically other DA kids outside Weston. It’s $ game.

They did do scouting. They called the DOCs asking for specific players contact information.

Bs , I know for a fact they didn’t except the ones they already wanted. There were players down there that had no business being down there and you know it. There were also some good ones that didn’t even get to try out.

‘Except for the ones they already wanted’...how do you think they found those players? Just because SOME good players were left out doesn’t mean they didn’t do any scouting. I know of several games that they watched my son play prior to the tryouts.

So if the way to get a tryout for Inter is to depend on your DOC isn’t Kaptiva a good choice if you’re looking for an Inter tryout?

this is poor thinking. the only way to for sure get on their radar is to get on one of the 3 non-MLS DAs and succeed as one of the best players on the team. If your kid cannot get on one of the 3 non-MLS DAs (60-70 total spots per age group), you should not be thinking about Inter. There may be a unicorn here and there, but as a general rule, don't count on being a unicorn.

You don't have to be on the non MLS DA to be invited or looked at. misconception.

You don't have to be. You are right. That's what they will tell you. But the reality is that a kid that is doing extremely well in DA they KNOW will translate to a contributor with MLS DA. While a kid that is doing well in non-DA MAY do well, or may not. Whether you choose to believe it or not, the coaches do believe that DA is a level or two above non-DA. You can choose to believe your kid is so damn good that it will not make a difference. you are highly likely to be wrong. Last point - it does make a difference the age group. the difference between u17 DA and non-DA u17 club is massive. the difference between u12 DA and non-DA u12 club is not so huge. So, if you are asking from the standpoint of a little one, I'd tend to agree a bit.

But don’t these non MLS DAs have a vested interest in keeping their top players? They need to be competitive so the parents keep paying. Why would they want to send away paying customers?

No, they have a vested interest in being seen as the path to MLS DA and to college soccer. You can certainly field a competitive team even if you lose a handful of players to MLS. In fact, having players taken only increases the interest of players and parents that are playing elsewhere - "new" customers.

They only reached out to DOCs for this year. Moving forward, they will be inviting players to come train with the teams. No tryouts.

Moving forward you will need to be. They’re not going to be watching silver division at local cups.
