There's that and many of the top program aren't in this area. Statistically most kids stay a half a days drive from home. Sure some athletes will go further afield but many still like to be closer to home. We don't produce a ton of top US talent (much of it is out west and south) and we have loads of great schools on the east coast. That keeps the educationally drive soccer demographic very happy with where they end up

What year did she quit the team for lack of playing time?

National programs look under rocks for gold, including overseas. And there is such a thing as the telephone and Internet to contact them if you think your kid has talent. And top NE clubs travel showcases down south and out west. If these girls love soccer and these top 20 schools reached out then you would see the talent at these schools, correct?

She quit after sophomore year of HS. She was got plenty of playing time, but wanted to spend more time on other things. She still played HS and conditioned, ran her own drills, and played with friends/teammates informally in spring and summer. Other than freshman year in college, she’s played mostly full games since then although she red shirted at the end of last season due to a non-soccer injury. She’s back healthy now.

Just to be clear not against clubs or anything. No (real) bad experiences, but I do think anybody who let’s the club lead them around and makes decisions for them is not thinking straight. Make your own decisions and trust in your judgement.

Like the poster said we don't have many of those players in these parts.

Their time is too limited . They don’t have time to research a players past dramas. They just need to cut to the chase and see how well you play. That’s what matters to them.

I’d be happy to have a kid in her shoes, rather than some washed up has been soccer player with a useless degree and no job, having spent thousands of dollars as a sheeple to a kool aid club.
