Pro sports are businesses and the customers are the fans. Why would you want to piss off your customers?
You do realize that homosexuals vote overwhelmingly Democrat, are very liberal on many issues and are much likely to be angry with the current administration, right? In fact they are virtually the opposite of the NFL fan base. Some may not like a flag protest but it's not going to turn off nearly as many current fans as you think. It might keep prospective fans from watching but there's many more reasons why people don't watch women's soccer.

Not enough to keep women's soccer financially viable on their own, that's what it means.

An employer can try and put it in a contract and test it in court but if it isn't in their current contract oh well.
If she really wanted to protest, then I would think that the best form of protest would be for her to VERY PUBLICLY state the she refuses to participate for the National team.....that would be seem to be a much bigger deal than just kneeling for the National Anthem....

        Just my .02....

          Sweet Home Alabama....!!!!!

Rapinoe is what being a real American is all about. Thank goodness there are still a few Americans out there with real courage.

Trump folks always forget to mention the alarming rise in anti-Semitism, bolder home grown terrorists, and previously unthinkable new laws like this Alabama law. It is time to be very, very afraid.

Yes. I realize that many of the few paying women's soccer fans one hundred percent support MR. That was the point of the post. Us soccer will also support her because of that. It is a business decision as is the decisions made by the nfl regarding CK. He is not going to drive ticket sales and media eyeballs so what team wants him?

She's also been very vocal about the unequal pay issue. Like someone said there is a good deal to not be proud of right now in America and our global reputation is going down the toilet.

Even with all its imperfections, soldiers, both men and women, who never knew me or Megan Rapinoe died protecting this country and what, in theory, it stands for. At the very least she can stand to honor their sacrifice and stop acting like a petulant child.

There is far more to be proud of. In fact, as regards women's soccer, it is the US that has allowed women an international stage to motivate other countries to promote women's soccer. Have we forgotten so soon the movie Bend it Like Beckham?.

When your audience is small to begin with, you can't afford to turn off any of them especially when demanding equal pay.

Why are you conflating how people sing or do not sing the anthem with disrespect for military sacrifice? You have been told to do that by the media but you should not do that. It is not for you to tell someone else how to show respect for our fallen soldiers.

Some feel a hollow ritual of singing the anthem is actually disrespectful when there us so so much work left to do to achieve the ideals these brave soldiers died for.

Excellent point. In fact many in the military supported the NFL kneeling cause because they fought for our right to protest without repercussion. How many of these folk who claim to be so incensed by what athletes do stand up themselves when the anthem is played on TV? The only standing they do is to get another beer or take a leak.

How do you know how people honor the service and sacrifice of our military? How do you what is in the mind of persons who kneel? Maybe kneeling is MORE respectful. Maybe we should be more upset and white nationalists DO stand for the anthem.

Do you realize Alabama just passed a basically total ban on abortions of any type, and other states are doing similar? Do you realize that aside from the enormous spike in racism, or as past of that, anti-Semitism is running rampant in this country?

Do you think Sean Hannity is more patriotic and more of an American than Rapinoe? Jason Chaffetz? Trey Gowdy? That Gaetz fraternity bully clown? Tucker Carlson, lol?

Real Americans are the Rosa Parks of the world....the Buttigieg's of the world....and yes, Megan Rapinoe.

I see this pretty narrowly, this isn’t about NFL or what you personal believe, etc., it’s about Rapinoe and her being on the United States National Women’s Soccer team. It’s not a private club team, it’s the United States National Women’s Soccer team - please let those words sink in your head. Rapinoe wants to be on Team USA whose motto is “One Nation, One Team” and yet she publicly voiced disdain for the country and says she doesn’t want to honor it by standing or singing the anthem. She shouldn’t be on the team if she doesn’t want to represent the country. Period.

What’s next? Our Army soldiers lay down their guns and surrender the country because they are pissed off with their personal treatment or pay or because they don’t like the Commander in Chief? If you sign up to represent the country, you put your personal feelings aside and show respect to the country’s symbols and shut and do your job.

Many vets supported the NFL protests precisely because they fought for the freedom for all of us to protest. She is doing the same, taking a stand against the things she sees wrong with this country.

You see it way too narrowly. Soccer is is Business!!!!! They are playing a game for entertainment and to please the fans. You realize international soccer games are not some type of military operation. This is not some taxpayer supported enterprise.
