Why are kids that were recruited last year back playing club?

Just wondering what the rules are. Some of the clubs have kids that graduated last year and were accepted and went to play soccer at university. But now there back on the old club team. Did these parents let them drop out of university because they got cut from the college team? And can the club take them back?

    Kids can play until U19.

You would think by U19 you would be more knowledgeable about competitive soccer...lol

College athletes are not permitted (NCAA) to play on outside team while college classes are in session.

Our daughter plays on a club team at college. That makes more sense than going back to a youth club team.

No rostered college player go back and play on a club team, particularly since they're in season right now. Players who were supposedly recruited have since then either been cut, quit/changed their minds or were never "recruited" to begin with. If you weren't getting any athletic money a coach can cut you any time up until official final rosters are submitted to the NCAA.

The exception is U19 at the end of the club season. I have witnessed this. If a college girl (would almost certainly have to be a girl completing her freshman year of college) is under 19 when most colleges "let out" which is around May 1st wants to come back and join a club team to help the club team compete for Nationals in early June, then that is allowed.

The college girl at that point is not enrolled in college and if the club can get her a pass and get her rostered by the deadline, she is eligible to play in the club's Nationals with her previous club team. It is somewhat common.

Sure it could happen that way, but not in the fall. Stupid on the player's part however. Why risk injury just to get in some club games? Good luck telling your college coach how it happened.

Other college students not playing on a college soccer team could play on a U19 team.

The club and college coaches communicate about it at our club.

Yes they can, of course. U19. But why? You're in college, move on. Play on your school club team or even intramurals. You're taking PT from younger players as well.

Nope. Mine are in college. They'd never even think of returning to their clubs to play. It's not even interesting from a competitive level. They play with other college players and adults during the summer. There's lots of teams like that around plus more formalized leagues for college players like PDL

If you graduated already, move on and let the HS players play.
