That's where we disagree - coaches don't have the budget to search every corner. I agree that they don't care what league you play in, but ECNL offers a big pond to fish in against the best players in the country

This has nothing to do with a budget, incredible talent is always found regardless of what league or club in all sports. Every type of league or us soccer odp/da will provide a platform for kids to play and be seen.

This latest short lived iteration league promoted by us club soccer it's ecnl and specifically it's ancillary showcase events can bring in some of the best players from the best clubs in the country for sure, it's called a combine or cattle call. Those players not in the top 5 to 10% of all the clubs attending are simply filler or another revenue stream.

There are many ways to cater to college coaches through ID camps, combines, player showcases, tournaments.

A 'national league' is not one of them, to your point no coach is travelling to Oregon to watch Crossfire Utd play FC Portland, or watch them in Utah or Idaho. Even at the crowded showcases Oregon clubs are not often on the radar unless they face a great club team, which they don't do very often due to their poor performance in league play which seeds them for the showcase.

I too, disagree, with you. Speaking of reality, here it is. Coaches/recruiters go to ECNL showcase events. They know ECNL is providing the best competition and going to ECNL events provide the best opportunity to see the most players.

I believe in the adage that if you're THAT good, coaches will find you. But you better be THAT good for them to seek you out if you're not playing or attending showcase events. A player make look like a superstar on video, but the question on recruiters mind will be; "against what level of competition?" Also, "how would she compete with ECNL showcase competition?" Here's another facet, if you're attending ECNL events, you will communicate with schools including sending highlight videos. Those two aren mutually exclusive.

With limited budgets, it make sense to attend a showcase event and be able to see the 10-20 girls (or whatever that number is)that are on your recruiting radar. Recruiters also have a strong probability of discovering more at the event.

Not only are they paying 10k like all the other fools to get beat 9-0 and have -75 goal differential in their league, they wasted their time developing and can't even beat teams that they talk crap about.

Well it's still better to have been AT the dance than outside looking in, wishing you were there.

Like I said, you may not like it, you may not believe it, but for better or worse, it's reality. How you may ask I know? I've been there. I've seen the large amount of schools/coaches at those events. Girls have the opportunity, no guarantees, to be seen and be recruited.

Not surprised. They try to sell you on elite by association or college looks by using a older team that is nothing like the younger teams. Their turnover is terrible and they literally have been trying to give away free spots. All the talent is at fc Portland or Vancouver with a few at the thorns.

Eastside is technically thorns B team. You lost to a C team, tied a B team and got embarrassed by a Farwest regional team that didn't even win their state cup.
