Certainly not. But they are unethical among "nonprofits" and immoral when profits are gained by fleecing children and their families.

I do believe Goodwill's CEO makes too much money: https://www.bizjournals.com/portland...ses-again.html

Fortunately, our board had the good sense to pay our DOC a small fraction of that and at the same time give the guy a living wage, so he doesn't have to beg the Timbers for any available coaching gig to support his family.

The current Timbers league charges too much, lacks accountability, and is filled with conflicts. Exactly what happens when you give a for-profit an unregulated monopoly.

          What is to much

Here is the doc. Read it.

Who is bitching about this? Former OPL clubs??

Yes, they did cost less money and did little for it. They had at the end over $500K sitting in the bank. They made a lot of promise and did little. When the Timbers came along, all the other non-OPL clubs ran back. All the OPL clubs had was playing games against themselves, so sad.

The player per cost of this is less then it was over 10 yrs ago when the OYSA was running it.

Look to your own club cost. DOC Payment, Office staff, Coaches, and Fields cost are the main driver of increase cost to players. Ask your clubs for their 990 to review (bet you don't find their coaches cost there as they are contracted).

Nice to say that TTPL cost to much money, but look to your own house and follow the money there also.

No need for the Timbers and Thorns to be involved, they need to step away.

If the coaches at your club are independent contractors, and this is the case with most clubs, then the club/DoC can't tell them how to coach their teams. So any club that preaches a "philosophy" and then contracts coaches (here's looking at you WashT) is guilty of scamming their entire membership.

Please, Pay a fair wage to the referee's and the assignor also the match scheduler after those expenses have been covered NOW give the rest back to the OYSA so the non-profit can reinvest in it's membership and mission.

Supplying refs and a match schedule is hardly rocket science, but it does take a little attention to detail which is why outsourcing these type of one-off services is advisable. Problem is Peregrine has nobody capable of doing this in house- they never did, so they outsource it to the same folks OYSA did prior to the takeover.

                It's called a shell game.

All the while peregrine is keeping the profits from all OYSA leagues & post season cups for themselves.

This is all centered around the need to fund the salaries of the departed OYSA staff MS & EL who the Timbers refused to pay in their house, unless they could get the OYSA RTC, league & cup profits for their OYSA errr..Timbers roles at Peregrine. Mission Accomplished.

Seriously, what pro team would be willing to salary a youth league administrator (MS) & a ODP secretary (EL) in it's MLS operation? None, instead all of the OYSA clubs fund this bizarre setup, that is really very twisted and disingenuous on so many levels.

                Clean up shop.
Move the leagues back to the OYSA.
Move ODP back to it's birthplace as well.

Let EL be a daycare camp manager with the TImbers/Thorns, it's his thing.
Let MS do something useful for once in a wheelhouse that suits him...good luck with that.

Let the Timbers & Thorns figure out how to field competitive teams in their respective leagues, keep away from kiddie rec soccer (OYSA) stick to your Development Academies and your trusted daycare camps.

That will never happen unless it's DA.

Oh it's going to happen. Just like last time, some clubs will move teams to the new option because they are sick of the OYSA situation and the rest will move to follow the competition. Can't wait.

You could make an entire premier league with just the players that have bailed on LOSC over the past 10 years.

Folks are concerned about the OYSA/Timbers relationship specifically, and the structure of Oregon soccer generally.

Well best of luck to them. We look forward to seeing what they roll out.
