In case you were wondering but George Fox and Evergreen do not play in the Power 5
You register with a club or play for a high school. Nobody plays for a league. Your club team can choose what league they play in.The us club or usys league your club team plays in Oregon no bearing on any our girls college landing point. Never has, Never will. That's called ironic and factual.

I wish it were true, but why are CU girls playing D1, but TA players going on to George Fox, Evergreen, and JCs?

More accurately, CU girl getting significant playing time for Oregon as freshman while TA freshman didn't get off the bench all weekend.

Ok, if 75% tuition isn't "getting much money" than you are right.

Daughter/Family chose a club that plays ECNL. I would agree that coaches don't pick players because they play in ECNL. However a coach picks an ECNL player over non-ECNL player because they have seen them frequently play against the best players in the country at the fastest pace in the country. I can't imagine CU have the best players at roster spots 1-22, but for some reason FC and CU girls are going to some solid D1 schools while TA players are at George Fox, Evergreen and JCs

Excuse me but seriously whats wrong with a scholarship to George Fox? Please do tell. It's a nice small and private Christian college with average incoming freshman gpa at 3.6 and annual tuition around $34k/year.

Given that professional opportunities for women are fairly limited, and the professional pathway probably doesn't go through NCAA ball (the latter applies to men as well)--I would think that players seeking a college education would care more about the academics of the school than about "being Division 1".

This isn't the NBA, where young men have to do one year's service in the NCAA before bolting for the pros, and playing for Kentucky or a similar program is a boost to their pro prospects. Likewise for men's football players, who have to do two years NCAA service, and might be bolstered by playing for a football factory in the SEC.

If you want to go to UCLA and can get an athletic scholarship there, great! If you want to go to George Fox and can get a scholarship there instead, also great! But if you're bragging about getting into UCLA because your primary focus is soccer--what happens when your four years are up? You've probably missed the bus to the NWSL and the foreign women's pro leagues. If you are good enough for the USWNT pool, it doesn't matter where you play college ball.

Whatever theory you need to subscribe to justify how your money is spent is your right.

Your version of the recruiting process; with regards to evaluation, identification and the awarding of an athletic scholarship by a college coach is simply pure fantasy.

The rest of us are just bystanders to your incredible insight and acumen on this matter.

Rationalize the dollars spent on neighborhood club soccer at every turn.

Can't wait for the next theory you chose to apply to our incredibly shallow pool of d1 talent available in Oregon. How about colorful head gear? Neon Scrunchies? That does the trick!

For obvious reasons you are truly clueless....it's your world, thanks for the sophomoric reasoning and logic loved it.

It is not a theory. If you haven't experienced an ECNL Showcase then you don't know what you are talking about. Been to Surf, been to Players, but the number of coaches attending at ECNL are 10x. I am not rationalizing ECNL but just stating we spent way less on ECNL than we are receiving in scholarships.

If the opposite were true then you would see far more non-ECNL players with scholarships because there are way more non-ECNL players

Most would prefer their children to have academic scholarships. Playing soccer in college could be great fun and a nice achievement, but why have your finances dependent on athletic performance?

Oregon giirls went to better schools prior to cu and fcp jjoining this new league.

Some of our best athletes don't have the best grades. The smart ones can rely on merit aid. A lot more merit aid to go around.l

The star players with bad grades often end up having to transfer or drop out of college. Turns out you still have to go to classes even when you're on a college sports team. The ones that struggle balancing good grades & sports in HS, will struggle even more in college.

A very true statement and someone who can completely relate.
