they just don't have time to waste. (also, the ncaa rules for this are very stringent and razor thin) coaches will at times look at some HS sophmores at best. They pretty much just look at the HS Jrs/Srs.

For boys yes. Top DA picks will get on college radars earlier but for most boys junior year is the big year. Girls, despite the rule changes, get more looks sophomore year even though technically they can't "talk" to coaches yet.

there is alot that goes into choosing a college/as well as playing sports. The big topics are education/major, Grades, $$$/Cost, Location. There is virtually ZERO money available for soccer scholarships (80% of scholarships go to foreign players, YOUR kid is scrambling, scratching, clawing for a piece of 20% that is left over). and this includes what used to be a da kid.
