College women's soccer started this weekend

The Men and Women did raise the money for new benches but the University cut the soccer budgets the men had to fun raise for a second assistant coach salary and the women used it to cover their transportation costs

I heard a rumor they are putting in field turf in the near future. Any truth to this? If so that's a pretty big expense for a struggling program.

Umass isn't a great program, but you are comparing it to a pitiful one

HC is one of the top schools in the norttheast. No one is there for the athletic glory. The network of HC grads regionally and natioanlly is unbeatable. And the athletic complex they are building is not for soccer.

Yeah, the northeast is not noted for Ivy League, Little Ivies, and a host of private, liberal arts (and non liberal arts) schools of high quality. HC would be a clear top dog if it was between texas and cali though (or MN and WA too). It's a good school with a good network for sure, but, around here, there are plenty of schools its equal or substantially better.

They tried to raise money for new benches and fell woefully short of their goal. It's embarrassing that the flagship campus has such poor facilities and no support from the administration.

That can be the key - the importance the administration and or AD put into it. Players know when the school doesn't care and it can snowball - gets harder to recruit, to win games, the recruiting goes down more....Some coaches can overcome those obstacles but sometimes they're fighting a lost cause.

HC is a solid school and right at the top of the Patriot league when it comes to Academics. Worcester is a cess pool so I'm not sure its the easiest place to recruit to. This is also compounded by the fact that its very expensive and women's soccer there hasn't traditionally had great funding. So they trying to find good players with good grades that are still willing to chip in 45k to attend. The pool has to be somewhat small.

So what if she plays a lot? That doesn't excuse her actions (quitting after she didn't get her way) and certainly not her parents. She played a lot last year and HC played horribly. A match made in heaven it sounds like.
