    Disney International Cup ???

Any feedback on this upcoming tournament would be greatly appreciated?

It is our first Disney tournament

    Thank You

We played in it last year. Summer event that draws teams from out of state and out of the country. Typical Disney. Pay to watch. July is HOT. Competition can range from very good to very bad. Because it is July you are playing last year's age.

    This lists the accepted teams

For the girls side, they were not that good, and not many teams.

We are playing as well, not first Disney tourney but first Disney Cup. Looked
like last year most of the winners were Florida teams.

True...but when I looked quickly at it before it looked like a lot of the international teams
were getting beat pretty good....Bottom line, no where near the competition, at
least on girls side as the Memorial Day tourney.

It's geared toward teams wanting to play a little soccer during their Disney vacation. One game per day (somedays no game) stretched out over a full week to allow plenty of time to spend money at the parks. Good for those vacationing kids, for Florida or local teams it sucks. Pay for admission 5 or 6 days to beat some team from S. America 12 - 0. Even the Florida teams that play and win are not top-flight, lot's of guest players because kids are on vacation, and on and on. Often Disney will invite local teams to play for free just to fill out weak groups. No thanks.

Where it is beneficial to a local team (aside from having to pay admission for fans for the week) is (1) Free tourney entry most of the time to fill out brackets and (2) If you are a team playing up an age group to better prepare for the upcoming season it allows you to play 4-6 games. Rising U11s and Rising U13s it is perfect.

Did you see they have a Girls Open division.

It lists Haiti U17 National team as well as the Clearwater Chargers, FL Rush, FC America, Space Coast and Strictly. Not sure if theses were last year's U17s or if older players will be playing for the FL teams. Certainly a nice twist on the event with a chance to get to play Haiti. I wonder if the Haiti team is a guest of Disney as a show of good will after the earthquake?

The Haiti team is actually being brought over thru the "Many Hearts - One Goal" foundation started by the Clearwater player that was on the US 17 National team with support from her home club, people around the state of Florida and other members of the US Woman's U17 team. Disney has embraced the efforts of the foundation as well that is trying to raise many funds first to bring the team over now for 2 weeks, and long term to help rebuild the Federation facilities and home situations for the players, particularly thes girls that were impacted.

Much help is needed. See the FYSA website or go directly to the foundation website to help with your donation. www.many-hearts-one-goal.org

The Brazilian U-18 team is very good as is the team from Hunduras in the U-16s.

Been there, why? Not being argumentative, but what part do you not agree with?
