    ID2 program is back

So happy that this program is back. How many players from around Florida will make the team. Less politics than ODP, better organized and it is done right. Parents do not have to come out of pocket for the tryouts. It is based on coaches recommendation. US Club Soccer doing it right once again. FYSA take note.

Wait a minute. I thought GF was the ID2 connection when he was at TBU? Are you saying that GF is not the ID2 connection now that he is at FP? Why would that be? Why is TT at TBU now the ID2 connection now?

TT was the director before GF was at FP.

FYSA please take note! US Club Soccer doing it right.

The id2 Program is open to all players regardless of U.S. Soccer affiliation or lack thereof.
There is no cost to players to be identified for or participate in the id2 Program. For id2 Training Camps, all lodging, meals and training gear are provided at no cost by US Club Soccer and Nike. For National Selection programming, airfare/travel is also provided at no cost.
Players should be initially scouted within the environment they are most comfortable – their club training and competition environment. Clubs have the largest impact on player development, and club coaches and club competitions must be an integral part of the id2 Program.
Players are rated and evaluated for inclusion in the program based up on a combination of: (i) objective and independent scouting information; and (ii) information from the players’ regular trainers and coaches.
The id2 Program does not create significant additional demands on the calendar of the elite player.

So that’s why the girl is leaving WFF, I heard she got offered a spot to come back over to TBU. Having the director at your club gives you extra bargaining chip.

Is anyone sent on merit or is it all politics?

I heard she is leaving because wff coaches spend too much time on talking soccer

                      THE PROCESS

Targeted birth years are established every year in consultation with U.S. Soccer in order to align with the scouting priorities for the 14-U National Teams. The steps below outline the process once targeted birth years are established.

Recommendation and Identification: A national scouting and recommendation process for targeted birth years is used to form the id2 Program player pool. US Club Soccer solicits player recommendations from coaches throughout the country, which supplement the organization’s own scouting process that utilizes a network of key scouts at various league games and events.

Evaluation and Invitation: After an evaluation process, top players from the pool are invited to participate in an id2 Training Camp.

Participation in id2 Training Camp: Invited players participate in an id2 Training Camp, where they work with some of the nation’s best coaches, play with and against some of the nation’s best players in their age group, and are scouted by on-site U.S. Soccer staff. In addition to on-field sessions, the camps feature guest speakers, lectures/classroom sessions and other offerings, which make for a multi-faceted learning experience.

National Selection Programming: Top performers at id2 Training Camps throughout the cycle are selected for participation in the id2 National Selection International Tour for boys or the id2/ECNL National Training Camp for girls. U.S. Soccer staff also selects specific players to attend U.S. Soccer National Team programs.

I heard him sing “It was I who shot the Sheriff “ when he beat that 2007 team.

Our daughter has done both id2 and ODP and they both have their pluses and minuses. For her, id2 culminated in several days at the Nike complex in Oregon playing with and against U.S. girls. While ODP culminated in 10 days in Europe playing against top Euro teams. Overall, she enjoyed ODP more.

There are politics in both (as you would expect). What's different is that in the id2 system the politics are really at the Club level (which 2004 is going to be identified by the club? Is the club going to identify a 2004 GK or field player, etc. And clubs do have their favorite players/families). In ODP, anyone from any club can roll up to the tryouts but the politics tend to be that ODP has "favorite clubs" and tend to look more favorable on kids from the "super clubs."

Do these players / teams get scouted at the event? College coaches?
