Not at GAL fan but know your facts - there's two U13-14 showcases, one in NC and another in TX (kind of regional for less travel east coast/west coast). FL is for 15+. Then there's nationals for all teams in SoCal followed by finals in Seattle. Making it to finals won't be an issue for most teams, especially from the NE ;)

Ok but that might attract not attract the right customer$. These so called high-level leagues all want the the ones with the money and these far-flung, high-cost, high-travel events eliminate the undesirables,

I see no issue with Nationals or even showcases that require travel. The issue is having major events for teams in the age groups where they don't need to travel. Sure, before the change in recruitment when colleges could talk to players as young as 10 maybe long travel could be ok but today, nope. U15 would be when it would be more of a necessity for those looking to play in college. So by the GA and ECNL even having such event is just plain dumb.

Even further most GA teams (if you’ve actually seen them play from this area) have very few D1 level players. So for most players the excessive travel is not needed as plenty Local D3 is available for exposure. Why the heck go to Fla, Cali and Seattle in the span of 2 months if you’re very likely to only play D3??? Makes no sense.

It makes sense if you follow the money.

I don't understand all the complaining. If it is too far don't attend. Why not attend the USYS Regional Showcase happening here in Jersey instead? It's available to both boys and girls.

Just imagine if you are at NYSC, the 05 team is traveling to Florida to play in the 5th bracket (of 5). That ranks them no higher than 49 in GAL which is not saying much. Enjoy the sunshine and the crappy soccer.

Don't confuse just P5 schools as the only D1 schools. D1 has 347 schools currently https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...occer_programs
                    https://www.ncsasports.org/womens-so...ion-1-colleges

There are over 1000 schools just in NCAA that have women's soccer and another 400 with NAIA and NJCAA. Sure you can go local but not every player will want to stay local. Some might apply to an NAIA or NJCAA in another state in the hopes of getting into the D1 they wanted to.

And so what if a player wants to play D3. They should never be allowed to travel beyond these boarders because of it?

Imagine going to SC to play 6 teams with a combined 13 wins like PDA South 08s and 07s.

Why would you go to SC, parents having to take off 2-3 days, kids missing at least 2 days of school and both possibly having to quarantine for up to 2 weeks when they get back? Even with out covid, why? At least the old tournaments in Orlando or Tampa you could turn into a mini vacation before or after.

That used to be a really good team like 2-3 years ago. What on earth happened?

These “national” events are all about the $$$. If you ain’t figured that out yet got some ocean front property to sell you in Arizona. Crazy stuff.

Not really, and like other GAL teams players have left for ECNL

A lot of the 05 players were coming from CT and for them CFC is only a little more travel. A large number joined CFC leaving the 05 team without much quality,
