    Da can do odp?

I thought da did not allow their players to participate in da. Just saw a local club post that one of their da players made regional odp. Congrats to the kid and congrats to club for looking out for the kids

If you play DA you can't do ODP. If caught by US soccer the player will be suspended from the DA

DA rules tend to be more of a suggestion rather than anything hard and fast.

That’s not true at all. The only DA players playing ODP are either U16’s (03’s) that were on the U15 roster a year ago, but didn’t make the U16/17 (03/02) roster this year, or part time/discovery players that are not fully DA rostered.

Parents and players love to throw that DA patch around if they were on a DA team at some point in time. I’ve seen a DA player sneak in a HS school game during December break from DA have to serve a 3 game suspension in DA play. I’ve also seen DA players that played in a random non-DA tournament with a random non-DA club be booted from their DA team altogether. Now, it is possible, and I know of a couple, U16’s that played ECNL last year and have made the DA team for next year that are playing ODP. Not sure why, but to each his own.

Chances are that if a DA player feels the need/want to go to ODP they probably arent getting the playing time and attention on their DA team.

                          Therefore:
                          1-Coaches/DOC really dont care
2-Player/parents accept risk and wont lose sleep if they have to go down to the next team or have to sit a few games as punishment.
