Son realized he made a mistake with new club. Talked to club about leaving as they are rostering 22 kids. Want to leave for another club. They say won’t release him unless we pay the $2000 plus annual fee. Can this be true?

I thought fysa had a rule to protect big clubs from bullying kids. This is a big club with more than enough players don’t under estimate why clubs wanna be such *******s

What club? If the contract States money is owed, then it's owed. It's a dick move, though. Most clubs would allow it.

There are legal remedies and defenses to contracts which you may be able to avail yourself of. Public shaming and bad press is always a strong deterrent to any club. Additionally, since the club cannot register you with FYSA until August get with your new club and try to have them register you as soon it opens. This will prevent the other club from being able to block your registration and their only option to enforce the contract would be to spend money on attorneys to file suit. Depending on the amount they are after, might not be small claims court but rather county court.

Ever wonder why the only people at the games are the parents. Nobody wants to be there unless their kid needs a ride home.
Soccer has devolved into a way to prop up your kids egos. Then they don't make their high school team after you have spent 20k over the years and they are crushed.

What age is your son? If he is 18/19 a large roster is not uncommon. My experience with two soccer players is that while a few games may have too many potential players at the beginning of the season, it can get difficult to field a later on with the many senior year activities.
If he is younger, I wish you luck.
