he South Florida Football Academy has made a difference for athletes in their development and training to reach the next level. The Boynton Knights and Boca United soccer clubs have partnered to make an impact with several athletes signing to play for Major League Soccer academies and collegiate soccer teams in 2018.
Brandon Ramos signed with the LA Galaxy Academy in Los Angeles while Leonardo Afonso was selected to the Philadelphia Union U19 Academy.
The boys collegiate players include Gordon Phipps (University of South Florida), Nick Lodovico (University of North Florida), Marcello Cruz (Lynn University) and Matthias Myrtidis (Belmont Abbey).
The girls collegiate players consist of Aly Mielke (Purdue University), Grace Li (Loyola University of Maryland), Jadyn Matthews (Cornell University), Samantha Tobar (University of Florida), Brielle Pierce (U.S. Coast Guard), and Samantha Orlando (Emerson College).
"We are very happy to offer a great pathway for the higher level youth players in our area and wish them all the best of luck at their next soccer challenge,” said Asaf Lubezky, director of coaching for the South Florida Football Academy and the Boynton Knights.
The South Florida Football Academy also is led by Eric Eichmann (academy director), Mark Chung (technical director), Greg Gatto (regional commissioner) and John Hurst (president).
