The BIG concession was HS Soccer ... which appears will be allowed AFTER the transition is complete.

So the battle between ECNL and GDA ends as it should, with the FLAG winning.

    Have a wonderful July 4th.
What is your source? Because this is not listed ANYWHERE else other than in your post in a small anonymous forum. (In other words, sounds bogus to me.)

I'm a GDA parent and I think this is pure bullshlt.

I don't see it happening and see no reason for ECNL to do that.

Lavers is a very smart guy. He sees ECNL is coming to the end of the road as we know it. Parents slowly realizing that $25000 over 4-5 years to play soccer is unsustainable . Kids should concentrate on academics first as 99.9% of them won't be bankrolled to play college soccer.

You're a terrible fiction author. Hopefully you have a day job that pays the bills.

As far as competitiveness - look at last years PDA GDA playoffs vs this years’s ECNL playoffs. Whereas last years they couldn’t compete with podunk California teams, now they seem to be in control of the playoffs. One national championship in the bag, and maybe 1-2 more coming their way. It’s like winning the northern counties league again. Feels great.
You just proved that there’s too many leagues. It dilutes the talent pool. U13’s were not part of either league’s playoffs last year. First time for that age group in this year’s ECNL Playoffs. As for DA only two conferences fielded U13 teams as a pilot.

Ha! You don't know Lavers very well. The ECNL will be around as long as he is around. As for the cost of playing ECNL vs GDA, it's about the same. GDA slightly less, however you also get less time in front of college coaches. GDA also seems to miss the point of why the girls are really paying the game. ECNL, seems to be too much, with some of the events not needed. Both leagues are a fraud! All of this could be done on a local level.

And, yet, GDA is even more expensive. GDA doesn't solve the pay to play problem at all even if ECNL went away.

Both the poster and myself find most of this post laughable

Despite two years of trying ECNL has shown it isn't going anywhere. Nothing Lavers or USSF have done is smart. The need to make changes were certainly there yet they were very slow to realize it. Thinking GDA in its current form will solve those issues? Also foolish. Underestimating the draw of HS soccer and the strength of ECNL? Foolish again. Nor does GDA do a thing to solve the pay to play issue since it costs as much as ECNL and really has no pro clubs supporting it.

As for the last line with grades - that is true if you look at soccer players overall. The vast majority will never play in college and having good grades will always be a benefit in so many ways. But at the upper levels of club soccer, those kids can and will play in college if they want (assuming they target the right programs). Keeping your grades up gives you even more options. Not all will be "bankrolled" because the goal for many is to use soccer to get into somewhat better schools than they can without soccer. That will include many quality D3 schools where there is only merit $. Most soccer families are middle to upper income so half off a quality education is a win for them.
