Arguably before ECNL the combined club from LO was starting to roll pretty well and was beginning to win majority of State Cups.

For the first two years of ECNL it was getting pretty clear that FC was the dominate club in PDX, with neither club really being anything to get to excited over. CU was not in good shape and pretty noncompetitive at many age groups with players leaving the club in droves.

Like it or not Legg has moved the Bar at CU. He has established a positive culture and the teams believe they should win. It has been a crazy good transition and fun to watch.
Recreational out of state games with travel can create a positive culture for parents & players absolutely! Why not just play lower division in the OYSA keep the culture, keep the same results for 1/4 the cost of this con?

Just a couple years ago many of the country's top clubs were in the US Club travel league (now moved to the DA) along with the (2) local Oregon clubs it was bridge too far to compete at that level for them. Now it's about how to justify the incredible spend to play other states average clubs. I pity you folks. All the Best.

Serious question with an established DA (Timbers/Thorns) up an running + it's subsidized, why would any local club join a travel only league?

We live in Oregon not So. Cal.

That is why the GDA doesant make sense here. GDA only works well in so cal and the best club there(so cal) just left for ECNL. Honestly this battle is over and you are wasting your time. ECNL is top league in USA for girls. Debate is over top clubs all moving.

          Not in Oregon

Certainly not in Oregon, the ECNL isn't the top league. Based on the overall results CU and FC are average in Oregon and at least 2nd in state in Alaska in one age group.

The 03's are good and OYSA has a team just as good there too. That team placed mid table playing a year up in OYSA. Face it CU and FC no matter what is going on in the rest of the country you are not even in the conversation at this level.

Play there and pay there what you will but don't come on this message board claiming your are superior when that stats show you are not.

I think the move to ban high school soccer really hurts the GDA. Prevents them from getting a lot of elite players that want a balanced high school experience.

Don't distract from the fact GDA had more college commits than either ECNL club this year. That's D1 down.

                same

Same with the boys DA, there are some really good players that want to play both HS and Club.

Do not distract from the fact that GDA is as responsible for those commits as a babysitter to a parent.

Many kids joined the struggling thorns because it was cheap and a fun senior year thing to do.

Those kids were poached from everywhere.

You are as bad as the Ecnl scam artists

Elite girls know they don't have to give up anything.

Hard to believe this. How many commits did GDA have?

The best women players must sacrifice high school to make it big.

The fact that all the top women in the US for the last 25 years played high school is irrelevant.

Irrelevant is what our mens team is and our womens team will be also if we keep going down this path. Hopefully our best girls will keep forging ahead and keep playing HS soccer. Keep showing the powers that be that they are going down wrong path for USA.
