Yes I follow. You obviously don’t, Skippy

someone (you?) wrote that there were so many European based players on the USMNT that failed to qualify. There were only five. That was proven by the post.

        Sorry you couldn’t read

        - that it was about the USMNT and not USYNT
        - the game was held in Trinidad
        - the actual players names who are household names for several WC cycles
        - there was only one U20 player on the squad. The oldest was 38

Most of all sorry you know nothing about soccer. Well not that sorry

          GDP vs ECNL and USWNT

Does the USWNT only recruit players for its camps, pools and rosters from the GDP teams or will they also consider ECNL girls?

This past year some kids were ECNL. Next year it will be even fewer, if any, and it won't necessarily be a talent based decision but political.

It sucks, but I agree, at the very top level of the NTs its political and marketing based.

All the talent up top is similarly matched, so the decisions are political or favoritism in the selection. Not a true meritocracy. I think it may be a contributing factor to our (mens, not womens) doing poorly, all (I'm generalizing) the large nations are doing poorly on the world scale, US, RUS, China, India, all these are seriously large population groups that somehow, from that giant mass of people cant make a killer team. Its due to politics and a bunch of other things.... is what it is...

In the end, its still a business and the US staff needs to get results to keep their jobs. If some stud is playing on Michigan Hawks they won't be left off because they aren't in the academy. Certainly jump balls are going to Academy kids though.

Is the GDA marketing pitch already being reduced to "only path to the National team'" Sad state of affairs!

Thats basically the pitch for the boys......

Well, there has to be some pitch because there certainly isn't any college money on the boys side.

On the boys it is somewhat a different scene because BDA is an aggregator of the nation's top talent, or at least it captures a much bigger portion of it. GDA that just isn't the case. Also, since BDA is #1 by a mile USSF doesn't heave to sell it (although some BDA clubs are not very good and are just a money grab at this point; i'm talking more at the MLS clubs).
GDA doesn't have the breadth of clubs that BDA does. But, more importantly, GDA is in a battle with ECNL. Of course USSF will use whatever tools it has to try and become #1. That will include ignoring some talented players to send a clear message

Says the person who knows absolutely nothing about the logic or conversations that go on within the USWNT selection group.

                        Conjecture, pure and simple.

Well, did you use a knife to do this smear job here?

How do you know it's not a true meritocracy? Are you involved in all the selection decisions? Are you in those private conversations with the rest of them?

Pretty easy to sit 20,000 feet above it all and cast down your "reasons" for failure, isn't it?

It's like being a political pundit, right? You just sit there and spout of your opinion like it's from someone who actually knows something, eh?

Where does it say in ANY GDA public documents or statements or on any of their websites that DA is the ONLY path the the National Team?

Certainly been the rhetoric on this board from the OW crowd for months now.

My kid is on her way to D1 soccer. She's not National team material.

If people want to take their little princess up to Portland because they are going to have a chance to play alongside Alex Morgan, run with that.

Oooohhhh touched a nerve, smear job. You know the ones who react the hardest are the ones doing the most, just saying..... I smell a hypocrite, looks like, sounds like, smells like, must be.....

Hello unassailable moral high road guy, not so much..... good to see you join the party. Lets play.

It is apparent you, or your child have never been at the top of the pyramid before (or maybe you have and its YOU), and have seen-

the kid get selected whos dad works for lets say, nike/adidas/puma/underarmour, get selected for something, while their peer who outperforms them does not (now thats weird, why would that happen? just strange, naive),

or lets say, the kids that get put up in the spotlight are mostly all kids of parents who are coaches and networked their way into the spotlight (just so weird, its always the uXX coaches kid who gets to go to the camps, thats weird, his kid is outta shape and not an impact player always looking at their feet, hmmm just weird I guess, naive),

odd, the kid that selected to go to "state event/ id camp", well hes ok, but his dad runs a program that rents fields from this other place and brings them a bucket of cash, can there possible be a correlation? naw, no way thats correlated.... its a meritocracy, right....

You really think this doenst go all the way up? really, are you that obtuse. Why do you think there are always ethics and fraud investigations, ALL THE WAY UP, to even FIFA, dilweed.

it goes on and on... Just open your eyes and take in reality, sad you cannot, it would melt your brain. You like it nice and easy and just do what they told you to do, no critical thinking.

I see you've never been there before, its ok, so it is all just too complicated for you to process.... Otherwise you'd just agree its not a meritocracy all the way up the foodchain, and gripe about it like everyone else, you, nope, its all true and correct, lol.... I dont need to be in that particular room at that particular moment. Are you the type of guy who needs break out a bag of sticks and do their math for 2+2=4, or can you just know its four without doing the work? You argue with people about it until they show you the math every time? Think about it..... that's life. It is what it is.... It is a self evident truth.

But, YOU, the unassailable vague high ground guy, just keep trying to push forward like you are the voice of reason and altruism and try to talk down others, not talk, but shout, that in itself demonstrates you are part of, or have the issues. I bet you might be a coach who finangled their kid into an ID camp, or onto the varisty, or "helped" the coach so your kid would get more playing time, or etc too, that's why this hit a nerve. So don't try to sit high and cast stones, you don't hold the moral high ground. Don't be naive, now go pour yourself a glass of milk and have some cookies and go to bed. Don't come to the adult table with that nonsense anymore, ok... Keep telling yourself stories... its ok..... Put your tooth under your pillow and wait for the great pumpkin to come give you a map to Nessie.

It is you, you, who knows nothing.
