Hingham
Hingham is bringing back most starters and good young talent from a team that made a deep run at end of 2014. I would replace Nauset with them in your rankings. A matchup that is happening next week in preseason scrimmage.

Walpole improved over the course of last season, their set pieces were very threatening (ok, their only threat last year, but assuming a little improvement in other parts of their game), and there have not been reports of major changes due to graduation, especially the really tall target for throws.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostHere's a boys E.Mass. preseason ranking. It's based a lot on last year unfortunately but necessarily. The mindset is like NCAA - you don't get ranked high for a gaudy record if you haven't competed well against challenging opponents. Also this looks at the whole season, not overemphasizing tournament progress.
1. Needham - yes, there's some speculation that they'll be off from 2014, and yes, their leading 2013-14 player is off to d1 college ball. But look how many wins they had against d1 opponents with double-digit wins: 2 v Brookline, Braintree, BC, Lexington, Natick, Silver Lake, St Johns, and Wellesley, for a total of 9. It's not the only way to look at a team's schedule strength, but it's reasonable. Since no one else even came close to that, Needham deserves to be 1 for now.
2. Framingham - 2 draws w/ Needham last year, and sentiment seems to be that they could be a little better this year.
3. Medford - all reports seem bullish on them
4. New Bedford - 14 wins last year, tend to re-load every year
5. St Johns - huge student body, plus can recruit
6. Brockton - reports are bullish for a 10-win 2014 team that plays a pretty challenging schedule despite so few league games
7. BC - same as St Johns
8. Lexington -
9. Concord-Carlisle - of course there will be concern about ranking them this far down. They had a phenomenal 2014. Objectively, they are undercut by Miaa soccer's alignment method, which in a 3-division statewide approach, would have them in d1 where they could prove themselves. Without that, they need better non-league scheduling (9-win d2 or 3 Holliston last year). They had just 3 wins against good d1s last year (A-B, Westford twice). Like Needham, their top player graduated, but it's safe to assume they were pretty deep.
10. Franklin
11. Malden
12. Peabody
13. Greater New Bedford RVT
14. Acton-Boxborough
15. East Boston
16. Walpole
17. Foxborough
18. Martha's Vineyard
19. Beverly?
20. Nauset
Franklin Ranked way too high at #10 they benefit greatly from the league they play in. The quality of play and skill on the team is not great.

Which league do you think is the strongest? Franklin has struggle getting far in the playoffs, but it certainly wasn't blow outs and the last three years they were knocked out by PKs or 1 goal. I would argue that the South bracket is the hardest to clear of all of them.

Are you serious? They made it into the Division 2 playoffs once in the past 5 years and got smoked in the second round.
