Any club running HS age tryouts in August is definitely getting the leftovers after ECNL, FCP, THUSC, Crossfire, and Thorns Academy have taken the best months ago.

The outlying clubs still roll old school. No one can ever leave anyway so they can stay with the old Aug. tryout dates. On the plus side for them, they don't lose all their talent to ECNL & Thorns so they will rule OYSA.

The only club that tried the HS ages out in ay was FC. All others (except ECNL and Thorns/Timbers Academies-which have their own discussions) tried out yesterday and today, like the traditional way it has been done!
FC Used some joke of a reason that they couldn't commit to a league that is all but "Defunct" at this point with the addition of FWRL, NWCL along with ECNL on the girls side.

Tryouts are for suckers. If your kid is good, s/he will be scouted.
This is how we do in England.
