It's not that much. There was league play, some tourneys, they did WCDA and NWCL, she was not on the roster for a couple of events, but it was more like 4.5 to 5k for U14. U16 is the spendy year but it's also when you are trying to get exposure, So they play in more of the big ECNL tourneys. We didn't go watch the travel matches outside of OR / WA. They had their coach giving them instructions and didn't need us there. Actually, the coach doesn't bark either. If they can't figure it out on there own by U14 they've been coached wrong prior, Coach really shouldn't be yelling instructions constantly. We had a great experience last year. A lot more comprehensive then say ODP.

Our's comes out to about $5,000 or $500 for 10 months (ECNL season/playoffs/Surf Cup) that includes airfare, lodging rental cars, chaperone/coaches cost and meals

Not for the mental midgets from the Alliance clubs. They HAVE to stay home.

"$8,000 is a pretty reasonable estimate for the player. If you want to travel to watch your daughter play, it's probably closer to $12,000 per year with hotels, gas, airfare...etc

But it's worth it. Invest $30k for a college scholarship? That's a good return on investment."

That's only if you include parent travel which is not really a fair assessment.

They stay home and bang the ECNL moms while the dads travel with the team.

I know there are a lot of people thinking about scholarships.

Focus should always be on academics first. Unless you are a four star or higher football recruit schools won't lower admissions standards for athletes.

Plus there is a lot more money available for academics.

That's what the ECNL moms tell us.

Patent travel is off the table. It is not allowed to be included in the discussion.

Because the discussion is about the COMPARATIVE value of ECNL the parent travel cost would be the same for the same number of trips for a thorns Academy or high end Club or ODP.

Ok, for five trips estimate $400 air, $400 hotel, $300 other cost times 5 = $5,500 for parent travel.

Parent travel is off the table as a discussion point.

This has always been the policy. Nothing new here.

Back to your cave. Or, better yet, tell us about all the good things Thorns Academy is doing? Can't think of anything? No surprise...
