I hadn't posted anything in this thread prior to that.

You could've just left it alone after the first line. It was funny. No reason to be a tool about it after.
GPA and college ranking discussion is fine given the right context but isn't it that money that really is the driving force behind all of club soccer? The days are long since past where an admissions department is going to grade participation in club soccer as some sort of "spike" so let's not propagate the delusion that there are a whole lot of people out there that are throwing tens of thousands annually at club soccer hoping for a non scholarship outcome. With college educations running $60-70K a year now the simple fact is the playing time and accolades all are secondary to getting some portion of the education funded. The bigger the number, the bigger the win. How much advantage a kid takes of that education is separate discussion but suffice to say that if they party their way through, it won't matter how prestigious the name it will all be a waste.

        I'm asking for a friend.
If it excludes them from working with a tool bag like yourself, it is well worth it.

What you've characterized as a delusion, strikes me as undeniably fair and accurate in describing between a plurality and majority of club soccer consumersgold.

Well tell your friend that the chances of a player getting a free education at a D1 school is slim to none. The notion of making a D1 team and getting a full ride will never happen. Schools offer partial scholarships but not to many players/parents will ever mention that.
Most colleges cost the same unless they are state schools. Also unless your rich here's finacial aid.

This situation only exists on the boys side. On the girls side the average D1 scholarship is around 50% with many players getting upwards of 80%. More programs offering scholarships and more scholarships available in them. You lose all credibility when you ignore reality.

and since you are the chief propagator of that delusion it is little wonder that it strikes truth with you. Unfortunately you are completely disconnected from the current reality in club soccer and have absolutely no understanding of what is driving families at this point.

Pretty much tells everyone everything that anyone would want to know about the folks down at this level of the pyramid. Clearly for them soccer is nothing but an extra curricular that is secondary to school just like in high school and then for some strange reason they want to thump their chests like everyone should get all excited about it. Maybe if we give them a few ooohs and aaahs they will go away.
Sounds like someone has a chip on their shoulder or jealous for some reason. Why would you say such a odd comment regarding this "level of the pyramid" not being worthy? Should no high school discussions go on this site? Clearly that is bad soccer. How about lower level D1 conferences? Why even have a MA forum since CA that produces the top players? In fact, why is anyone talking about anything other than the WNT? How far down the pyramid is acceptable? If you have a problem with D3 soccer for some reason - perhaps your daughters former teammate is a starter on D3 and your D1 daughter is still on the bench? Perhaps your only option was an OK D1 school financially? Perhaps you just want to feel good about yourself by putting down other programs? Regardless, if this thread is about D3 soccer, this is an appropriate forum. People will select a school for a myriad of reasons. And yes, for some people it may be noteworthy to include the academic aspect of a school. But my guess is the have some reasonable interest in soccer and reasonably good players. For you to come on and say specific discussions are not worthy, you clearly have some kind of sad axe to grind. Go to your D1 discussion and go talk about your amazing daughter's D1 team. She must be a superstar - good for you.

Riddle me this clown, why does every fricken thread about D3 always have to some reference to the authors valuation of the education? If you want to seriously talk soccer, then talk soccer. Leave you elitist views of college education and how families should fund the out of it.

I do not recall any reference to the "value of the education". The original post merely referenced that many of the schools in the top 10 New England rankings were also academically highly rated.

Does anyone know who the voters are in this poll? My guess is that there is probably at least one NESCAC coach stacking the deck for that league.

Its the regional poll so it makes sense that it would be represented. Most of the other D3 leagues in the region (like the MASCAC) aren't nearly as invested in their sports as the NESCAC is.
