The private schools are way over represented in the PCOA and of course in the RIIL leadership so you won't have any pushback against the privates (except for the sports that matter to RIIL like football and basketball..)

Who is going to make a run?

Looks like anybody's game depending on the day. Lots of parity among the teams which is good for the league and for the fans. The top 10-12 teams can knock each other off on any given day. Thoughts??

Huh..looks like mid-season the power is down south with SK and NK in 1st place, both with wins over BH..

The top five teams have loses total. The championship game comes from those five.

I must have typed sex instead of six and it was censored.

I would say parity among the top 5 teams in D1..they play each other quite a bit over the next week so that might give some more insight.

D2 is top 2 and a lot of parity below but MB/Smithfield should be in the finals - they play tomorrow in perhaps a preview - both should move up to D1 next year

D3 - lots of parity among Top 6.. boys playoffs should be more interesting than the Girls except who makes it out to play LSA in D1 girls.

There's 10 teams that can consistently compete with the upper tier of Division 1 . Then there's the bottom 4 or 5 who beat up on each other to get their two - four wins. Then there's CHARIHO. Most of the bottom five division 1 teams can put together a good year and get to the middle third tier, and occasionally one of those bottom five make it to the top third, but CHARIHO has overstayed its stay in Div 1 and should head back to Div II, and most of the bottom five never have a chance of competing for a championship.

Since they added fall football CHARIHO has struggled to field a competitive Div 1 squad. East Providence is another squad that has struggled in the last decade only occasionally making it to the middle tier, and then Cumberland which does its best to be competitive each year, but never a real threat. Probably better to have 12 team Division 1, 24 team Division 2 Metro and Suburban Division, and the remaining in Division 3. Call it Division AAA, AA, and A, or L(arge), M(edium), and S(mall). Have a Division 1 Championship, a Division 2 Championship of the two subdivisions, and a Division 3. At least the team competing in each division have a legitimate shot at a state title.

Cumberland has a young competitive squad that might do better in the next couple of years; LSA/BH will of course always be near the top; NK is a young squad too and should be in the finals mix next few years. EG always plays hard but both boys and girls have fallen on hard times. Your proposal makes sense on the girls side too.

Chariho, Cumberland, EG, EP and Tolman (tolman having a good season but typically struggle) usually make up the bottom 5, every year one of them break into top 10 Tolman this year. Central, Shea, CF and Classical always trying to break top 5. NK, SK, Portsmouth, Lasalle, Barrington and Hendricken usually round out top 6. If you make a group of twelve teams it just mean the bottom 2-4 teams will struggle like 15-10 already are. You will still have winless / 2 win teams in the new division.

Bring up Moses Brown and keep EG. EG dominated Div 2 for years and has been able to stick around the bottom middle of the pack. Classical is new to the mix and are doing well. Shea is always in the top 6. Central Falls is always competitive. There is a solid 10, and I would think the bottom 2 would rather play Div 1 then beat up on Div 2.

If you look at the last 3 season 14-15-16 and award 3pts for a win and 1 for a tie it's easy to see who belongs. The ideas that school population has anything to do with soccer program is ludicrous.

                          1.LaSalle - 108pts
                          2.Shea - 90pts
                          3.Hendricken - 87pts
                          4.Sk - 84pts
                          5.NK - 68pts
                          6.Barrington - 63pts
                          7.Portsmouth - 62pts
                          8.Central - 59pts
                          9.CF - 52pts
                          10.EP - 50pts
                          11.EG - 49pts
                          12.Cumberland - 43pts
                          13.Tolman - 26pts
                          14.Chariho - 17pts
***Classical only has one season. 7-4-3

First thing is RIIL needs to place an even number of teams in each division. 16 in each opposed to 15 teams in D1 and 17 teams in D2. They also need promotion and relegation style. It will keep the bottom teams fighting til the end and make for exciting soccer all season long.

Was that a correct score on RIIL???

                              MB 11, Barrington 2

How did RIIL not move MB up this year?

Coaches, AD's and Pricipales are sent a form every year asking if they would like to stay or move up divisions. Shame on MB for wanting trophies. Based on the formula they probably do not meet the requirement to move up do to male student population. With that said Private schools population shouldn't effect the scale as they can hand pick student athletes. MB coaching staff new exactly what they had coming in and could have requested the jump even in a off alignment year. To bad the lost to Smithfield will be a blemish and we will never know how they would perform against the likes of SK, NK LaSalle and Hendricken. Next years MB team will come up but won't have they same bite as this team.
