    Crossfire Challenge

It's hilarious that the Ecnl scam sellers try to tell everyone they are better while avoiding any team outside of their watered down league....

But when they actually are forced to play teams outside of it they end up struggling.

Doesn't matter if you are USYS ECNL DA,

It's pretty clear that spending more money and calling yourself elite doesn't get you very far even if you travel to Redmond to get beat by teams that spend their league season in state.

    just look at the results...

It's because clubs from Oregon who playing in the Ecnl cite ZERO accomplishments while spending the year talking trash about EVERYONE.

They cite other clubs or teams in the league but it has little relevance to their team.

When they have to stand alone they are NOWHERE to be seen.

Nice that CU will go to Crossfire and let non ecnl teams play them.

        After group play:

        U15G Super:

        Bracket A: WashT Red 04G (2-0-0), Seattle United ECNL (2-0-0), Chinooks FC (0-2-0), ETFC 04 (0-2-0)
Bracket B: Maui Cobras (2-0-0), Eastside FC Reign (1-1-0), ET 04G Red (1-1-0), Calgary Foothills (0-2-0)
        Bracket C: PacNW G04 ECNL (1-1-0), CU 04 (1-1-0), Spokane Sounders (1-1-0), Cook Inlet SC (1-1-0)

Advancing to emis: WashT Red, SU ECNL, Maui, PacNW G04 ECNL.

Crossfire Premier puts their ECNL (B) team in the Gold group, they fail to advance.

        U16:

Here. ECNL teams do better, with PacNW, Seattle United, and CU all advancing. FC got waxed as did Crossfire Premier. CU looks better than any of the other teams in this group.

United PDX girls advance to the Gold semifinals. (If I were FC, I'd worry about getting kicked out of ECNL and replaced with UPDX).

U17: Spokane Sounders, PacNW, and Blackhills FC are bradket winners, Eastside FC advances as a wildcard.

Crossfire Premier's GDA team, for some reason, participated in gold (but is blowing away everyone there).

U18/U19. Advancing are Spokane Sounders, Washington Rush, Eastside FC, and WFPC. Local ECNL teams (CU, CP, and SU) were shut out (FC didn't come).

All in all, a mixed bag--some ECNL teams (like CU 03s) are indeed elite, and showed it. Others got stomped on by RPL and OYSA teams.

No Oregon club is interested in blowing 10K a year per player just to travel. Nobody wants in this train-wreck, FC would love to be out, nobody is stupid enough to sign up for the mess. Even wishing that on a club is pure evil and noted.
Being elite is not something any team would claim based on a NW Tourney result. That's just more insanity from the mouths of idiots.Win the DA and you are elite, be a top 5 in So.Cal, TX or Florida and your are elite.

It's not like FC can't simply quit ECNL if they choose... (hint: they can).

But FC has based a lot of its prestige (on the girls side) on ECNL; but CU appears to have the better program by far. There are plenty of parents who DO have the money and desire to pay for prestige and recruiter access, so ECNL will likely continue to have a viable business model. But given the United PDX seems to trying to build up an Elite Club out of the bones of three old clubs (NEU, BSC, and unwillingly, FC), trying to poach the girls' program might be a next stop; although GDA may have gotten there first.

Back to comparing CU & FC? Kinda like comparing Mountainside to Tigard.

              2 clubs/schools that nobody gives a 2nd thought about.

Especially when both landscapes already have elite programs embedded and not soon to be overtaken HS-Jesuit & DA Thorns.

              It's really funny.

Which is stupendous because if you go back through these threads, the CU honks have put the quality of those clubs down for years. Now they are finding themselves on even ground with them both since all the top players in Seattle and Oregon have moved up to GDA.

Perhaps, but Thorns aren't at Crossfire, so that's hardly relevant to this thread.

FC has survived and (frankly thrived) during the emergence of Westside and Timbers Academy; have a strong culture, excellent facilities, and are very healthy financially, they will thrive with whatever comes next.

By the way, NEU/United is an "old" club? Smells like new money to me.

PDX United is the biggest single threat to FC’s survival.

If FC can’t thrive / excel in the new watered down ECNL league, they din’t deserve to survive.

You mean the top league in the country - ECNL. The league with ALL of the very best clubs. FC is doing just fine in that league. Now put Thornz Asylum in ECNL and watch the bloodbath. If you think the losing in watered-down GDA playing teams like PSV and Burlingame was bad, it would be 10x worse if they were in ECNL.
