Click on the link on other page. Only about 10% overall will play at any college level

And because it's a Title 9 sport many girls can parlay it into better schools and hefty tuition discounts. That's why parents care. It isn't about the soccer

Funny and loaded question. My only remark is that parents should inform themselves and be realistic. Many have gone afoul committing and not recognizing they rank 20 - 28th on the squad. Great initial PR but hard reality in the end.

Ding, ding, ding---we have a winner!!

Doesn't matter what the sport, LOT more scholarship $$ available. If a girl is a decent volleyball player, tennis player, left-handed softball player, swimmer, etc---she can and often does parlay this into some sort of scholarship money or funds to help further her education. Tuition, room and board, books---something!! Lots of opportunities out there! Just have to look and ask.

Club sports are like prep schools: another way for kids from wealthy families to get an edge. That’s why knocks that ecnl is expensive fall on deaf ears. The parents have the money and it’s a drop in the bucket to give their children an edge and an exclusive experience.

The education minded of the middle class has caught wind of the game and has joined in also, particularly in Southern CA.

              Jus an FYI

So. Cal parents are furious they have to pay to travel when they have enough talent in their backyard. You might re-think your theory.

Especially travelling across the country to play themselves in 2nd tier US Club leagues (ecnl)

Club sports for girls is a lot like prep school. Well worth the money, if you can afford it.

True to a degree but I would argue that going to prep school helps even the not so bright academically kids and playin club sports helps even the not so great athletes. Sure, to a lesser degree but it’s all about increasing your own child’s “resume”. Even the “weak” resume is boosted to a little less weak. In addition, the children get the social aspects of belonging to a sort of exclusive social group.
