That is ridiculous. Great players aren't concerned about high school soccer. Get a grip.

If they had banned high school back in the day, many of the stars of womens world cups over the years wouldn't have been national team players. Almost all the biggest name played high school. Most of them will cite high school games as their favorite soccer memories.

Keep telling yourself that. Meanwhile, club after club is choosing ECNL over GDA, and citing high school as the reason.

Here's a hint: What your individual kid may think is not indicative of all players.

If the '99 WC champs were focusing on Soccer instead of HS Sports the Chinese socialist garbage team wouldn't of taken them to PK's. Jus sayin. Brandi Chastain could of spared us all here sports bra look.

Like the men’s Academy. They don’t enjoy soccer and it shows. Boring bland bad soccer. Hopefully the women don’t wind up like that!

Hopefully US Soccer can salvage the products of the dog and pony 'showcase' show.

              Good luck with that.

The best clubs are mostly leaving GDA. Sad. But there are still teams in it so you can still play if you want. Maybe some local clubs will dive in. Clackamas Power Rays, Woodburn, Scappose are a few that come to mind.

The main difference between a 5 month season and a 10 month season is that you get to play all the teams in your conference 4x instead of 2x a year.

What are HS age girls mostly concerned with?

The NW ECNL league has 15 teams in it! And NOoo CU and FC Portland do not even play all the top teams in No. CA even 1x in their own NW league. I am So tired of people who post that don’t even look up the facts before spouting off. Especially details like schedules, which are easily findable and posted!!!!

The Thorns academy team really doesn’t play everyone in their group 4 times do they?

I don’t know but I do know that they try to match the girls up with similar quality teams on the showcases so the games are competitive.

How is that important? Seems like you are just trying to be mean. How about mind your own business?

All about recruitment. All the various factions of trolls are trying to convince girls/parents who read this (as if anyone considers here a good source of info) that only Their Club is the yellow brick road to success.

It's "we need to pool the top talent in Oregon onto one club.... MY club!" And assuming that if their club actually did contain the top talent, that their own DS or DD wouldn't be one of the ones cut to make room.

If we want to have one top-tier club that has the best talent, it needs to offer a far more compelling product than "you'll have better teammates" or "you'll get to ride the bus to play Crossfire Premier". It should be--gasp--an actual professional academy, one that is fully-funded and free, has an army of coaches at each training session, top-notch facilities, and is a completely different experience than a local nonprofit youth club.

It's too bad that Ben Billups kid wasn't a girl. Thorns Academy could actually use a sugardaddy, given that Peregrine isn't willing to fund them on an equal basis as Timbers Academy. (And it's understandable why, given the economics of both men's and women's pro soccer). But absent that, Thorns, CU, GPS, and FCSC are all just youth soccer clubs, some whose delusions of grandeur are more sever than others.

Must be a GPS dad. Gps is not a club, please stop including them in the discussions.
