When will the local neighborhood clubs give up trying to compare what they do to a professional Development Academy? It's not in their DNA, structure or body of work to be considered a DA club (outside of the window dressing little DA farce).

If they were all that and a bag of chips they would of been tapped or selected as a 'Big DA'.

The MLS Timbers & NWSL Thorns are all that in the eyes of US Soccer. Attendance and championships back them up in spades.

Move forward with your child's youth soccer club endeavor and do the best you can with the limited resources and talent you have available. We are all rooting for you and hope you can come to grips with what seems to you an unfair reality. It's truly a blessing.
Show us all those Thornz Asylum GDA championships. Oh yeah, can't do that because Thornz could barely beat Burlingame, and that was a forfeit. Nobody cares about the "NWSL Thornz" that play crappy soccer in front of a bunch of raving libtard idiot fans.

In this case the World Sport.

DA players don’t need HS soccer. They are playing 10 months with and against other top players. Many of them would like to play for social reasons and easy team glory. Unfortunately, it’s like letting top U17 players take off 3.5 months to play in a U13 league. Sure it would be fun and ego building but it doesn’t help anyone.

There are a dozen HS girls teams in Oregon alone that would obliterate the Thornz Asylum teams any day of the weak. The reason Thornz Asylum players aren't allowed to play HS is so they won't be outed as not good enough for their school's "C" teams.

Yeah, that Burlingame squad was one of the best. Almost beat Thornz without even showing up. And Thornz U17 play like U11's as that was the last time any of the players on that team were relevant.

With so many kids involved in recreational soccer these days, it's wonderful that High Schools have 3 to 4 squads each fall to take care of them. Long live JV 2!!

Seems like adapting to the different style of play and differing skill levels of players could be beneficial.

Does taking a few months off high level training really hurt progress that much? Are the benefits of playing high school enough to outweigh the downsides? Haven’t most of the best players of all time played high school soccer?
My opinion is that you want to try to take the fun part out of soccer. That sounds bad but it’s not. The time where you are simply playing to have fun and enjoy yourself is the time you aren’t duchess and working hard to get better. We should marginalize that part and focus on the hard work and getting better portion.

High school is really fun but you need a serious, humorless approach if you are to beat the Soviets and the Brazilians. Sacrifice for the team and country.

Most americans like all human have fun getting better at a craft.

What's not 'fun' is senseless, expensive air travel.

The men USNNt is a miserable lot. The women need to be the same to equal the quality of the men. #worldcupisbetterinyourlivingroom

Isn’t that the goal of GDA. To match girls to the quality of men? World Cup isn’t a big deal.

I sure hope they don’t crash the women out of World Cup like the men did but if that happens I’ll still support them. I’m not fair weather fan.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the US women embarrassed in 2019. But it wouldn't be the fault of GDA, as they would have only existed for two seasons (and the two classes they would have produced likely wouldn't be experienced enough to make the NT in any case).

OTOH, we're already seen the effects of ECNL (which HAS been around long enough to influence the talent pipeline) on our youth team play, and it's not pretty.

Stop please. Seriously making a case for anyone or organization being worse then US Soccer or GDA is a fools errand. You dont have the best clubs in America leaving the GDA because it is really good and the best option.

No the (best clubs) have year after year been elevated to the DA for the better part of the last 12 years. The deep DA talent pool keeps growing and getting stronger year after year. You don't get out much do you? MLS, NWSL and the nation's elite clubs have all spoken and the DA is the premier destination for youth development. Can't change it now, this long running US Soccer train has no end in sight. Sorry you are clueless.

Top clubs in the country are in ECNL. Best GDA team Slammers just left for ECNL.

Burlingame might have to come back.
