The rest of the world does not associate school & sport.
In this case the World Sport.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostDA players don’t need HS soccer. They are playing 10 months with and against other top players. Many of them would like to play for social reasons and easy team glory. Unfortunately, it’s like letting top U17 players take off 3.5 months to play in a U13 league. Sure it would be fun and ego building but it doesn’t help anyone.

With so many kids involved in recreational soccer these days, it's wonderful that High Schools have 3 to 4 squads each fall to take care of them. Long live JV 2!!

Seems like adapting to the different style of play and differing skill levels of players could be beneficial.
Does taking a few months off high level training really hurt progress that much? Are the benefits of playing high school enough to outweigh the downsides? Haven’t most of the best players of all time played high school soccer?

What's not 'fun' is senseless, expensive air travel.

OTOH, we're already seen the effects of ECNL (which HAS been around long enough to influence the talent pipeline) on our youth team play, and it's not pretty.

Top clubs in the country are in ECNL. Best GDA team Slammers just left for ECNL.
Burlingame might have to come back.
