An outside back almost always is tasked with getting forward. They're instrumental in helping with the attack. It's why it's one of the most difficult positions to play - granted that it is played correctly. Even in a 3-5-2 an outside back, even though that defence is akin to having 3 CMs, will have opportunities to get forward.

unfortunately for many teams lacking understanding of the game it amounts to parking the bus with 2 CDM, 2 wings , both wingbacks and all 3 central backs dropping even or behind the ball ... and they wonder why there is no way for them to get out.

Fairfield crushed by Brown yesterday, 5-0. Brown has a pretty good team and I expected them to win but not by such a big margin.

Ivy Women's soccer underrated. Yale probably best D1 in the State this year.

Yale trounced FU by a similar margin. Definitely best in state this year but there's little competition for that title really.

Yale hasn't played anyone and lost two games to better soccer conferences. Don't let the VT score mislead you. Men against boys, they couldn't even muster a shot in the second half. If not for their keeper could have been much worse.

Women against girls*.....if you follow, and especially if you work on the women's side, stick to just being a regular hater, not a subtlety sexist one.

CCSU has been awful. Trounced by Yale. Lost to UConn. 2-2-4 record against mediocre teams. Great last year, but early returns are not impressive.

                          I’d go:

                          1. Yale
                          2. UConn
                          3. QU
                          4. CCSU
                          5. SHU
                          6. FU
                          7. Hartford

Still early though. Once teams have some common opponents, it will be easier to compare.

UConn tied CCSU this year 1-1.

CCSU tied Bryant, Siena and Seton Hall. Maybe they’re good, but they’ve had an awful start. UConn not great either, but they smashed FU.
