Sadly many African American voters there, like in other parts of the country, have been so disenfrachised for years that they see little point in voting in any election. Add in gerrymandering (where electoral maps look more like Rorshach ink blots) and voter suppression, I mean "voter ID" laws and it's no wonder large swaths of the population just doesn't vote.
    Gerrymandering is done by both sides, sometimes to even make sure minorities have representation in the House of Representatives. However, that doesn't play a part in a Senate race, Einstein, since the US-Senate race is state-wide.

    How is showing an ID "voter suppression"? Guess what? In Alabama, if you don't have an ID, the govt. will give you one free!
