And this is news. Look at the weaker kids on the roster and who they do training with.

That is why they are not posting the names of who made the academy yet. Diffuse the outrage a bit ....

It is a gigantic conflict of interest. What is equally interesting (and disgusting) is that the Timbers Academy allows it to happen.
It makes me laugh every time I hear someone moralize about how corrupt another country is ...

No way. It's just like lobbying, which works fine. All those billions of dollars are not buying results. There is no quid pro quo.
All these private training fees have no influence on decisions. None.

LOL, what would be funny is if they get more business out a thread that started out to flame them.

Google it, along with the names of Timbers Academy coaches, and see what comes up.

That will happen. Everyone who wants their kid on the team now has a preferred trainer. :)

Complain to the Timbers. They ruin Youth soccer in the area.

I'm guessing the Timbers look the other way. Everyone seems to know about it.

It's an embarrassment and why a lot of truly talented kids want nothing to do with the tryouts. They know their weaker teammates who rarely play already have a spot due to the conflict of interest.

That problem is everywhere in the soccer world. By its nature, soccer allows for more subjective evaluation than just about any other sport.

And shame on the parents for taking part in it. No surprise that little Johnny acts so entitled. Great life lessons, though, for others who are observing.
And no need to feel bitter. Continue to develop on your own and reach your own potential through merit. There are plenty of opportunities to play and train outside of the TA, and it can be better suited to a family that also values academics and balance.
