No upset! Out coached and you can’t just kick the ball over the top to MF and hope for goal.

SJ s losing its allure. Back in the era of SG, JB, ST, LL and others (2011-2016), SJ had a large roster of very good players who could score if the superstars couldn’t play for whatever reason. In other words, you regularly saw players other than the superstars score. Now, JN has to put everything on the back of one player (first JM and now MF) while schools such as Staples, Ridgefield and others have large numbers of very good players.

Now, their school (town) teams are so good that they don’t need to go to SJ to play quality soccer in the fall.

Their trophy years were also mostly when they were in L not LL. In addition many (not all) of those good players you discussed are in towns with very good and very free public high schools. St J academics are fine but it isn't on par with many nearby districts. A catholic curriculum also isn't for everyone. Finally JN used to get a lot of YU players and that club has definitely slipped in the quality scale.

StJ is graduating their best player, two starting mids, a starting center back, and their goalie. They have NO bench. So unless they have some super freshmen coming in, their glory days are over.
