    This belongs on RI board...

Saw this on MA board but really belongs over here,

Word yesterday is that an email is circulating to the MA NEP/NPL clubs that they may not play against RI clubs as an NEP/NPL game. This is likely to be the ruling through the spring. So clubs like Liverpool in RI, Bayside in RI are out of luck? No season? All of the game for those RI clubs have been cancelled or "postponed" so far this season. Tomorrow Liverpool and Bayside, two RI teams now have to go to CT to play a game for it to be considered NEP? What is going on? Clubs aren't giving explanations and parents are paying for seasons that aren't happening. Can anyone clarify?

I am also very interested as I have a kid on a RI club. This season has been a total waste. It is not the clubs fault, but the clubs do have to realize that even though it is not their fault that NEP run by MA is causing all of the problems for RI clubs trying to play in NEP this fall, the clubs do need to make good on this. The parents should not be paying for the postpones, cancelled games that are replaced with scrimmages. This isn't what they signed up for. I know we signed up for competitive soccer with NEP games, but we also wanted to support our club. It is time we felt supported back. If we cannot have games that are real games, it is time to charge us all for Player Dev. Academy only not for a club season.

Let's face it, RI got screwed with soccer from every angle. First we were listed as high risk, then moderate. In the meantime Superliga did nothing for youth soccer they didn't even communicate with towns. The town soccer level did the best they could offering development and scrimmages in town. Basically rec soccer. Good for those town who made an effort. But the clubs in RI were constantly dealing with cancelled practices and games which caused frustration all the way around. MA has created the most insane rules ever in terms of return to play guidelines, mask wearing etc. I am not sure why RI felt we had to copy the foolish rules from MA. They aren't the end all be all experts. I blame Superliga, NEP/NPL, and our Governor for this foolishness.

Hoping RI towns and clubs get it together come spring or I predict club hopping and even players town hopping. Our numbers aren't even bad but for some reason we keep ending up in the losing end.

It's frustrating not having the games but the good town programs and the clubs are doing some good development. We need to support these clubs and not get caught up in not having all the games. They can't ignore rules set by the Governors, whether ridiculous or not.

Why blame our governor? Baker is the one not allowing RI teams to play in MA and enforcing draconian restrictions on youth soccer.

Your governor is the one over-testing relative to the rest of the states, resulting in overinflated positive tests for asymptomatic people. And thus, forcing the idiotic enforcement of RI being deemed a higher risk state when in reality, RI is just tested far more relative to the other states in New England. We no higher incidences than anywhere else.

Right. Test less and you won’t find as many cases. You do realize the asymptotic people spread the disease right? It’s a good thing to know who they are so they can isolate for a week or so to not give it to someone else. Save some lives.

That's not the point. Test more = more cases, sure. It's not equating to more deaths, but it is certainly equating to more false positives. You do know that at a certain point, they stopped testing for H1N1 during that pandemic, right? So what's different now? Testing and counting cases is just propaganda to keep the sheep in line.

Apparently you don't understand the concept that every state is doing things differently so there is no correlation whatsoever between percentages of an arbitrary population's "positive cases". And then they put in more arbitrary guidelines to determine who is "high risk" thereby putting greater restrictions solely based on their uneven playing field. There is no logic, no common sense, and no additional "safety" achieved by any of this. It is pure political theater, cover-my-own-ass, power grab nonsense.

Spread fear propaganda in order to sell safety to grab power and control the masses = oldest formula in the book.

So...yes, blame your governor for why kids can't participate in soccer with other states.

They stopped testing for H1N1 because it wasn’t killing people any more. Currently 750-1000 people die every day because of Covid and you want to test less. This number will go up as we head into the winter and people are stuck inside despite the moron-in-chief saying it will magically go away. You can’t stop the spread unless you know where the virus is. To know that you need to test. It’s just youth soccer. You can give it up out of state games for 6 months for the sake of R.I. and the country.

Then why don't we test for influenza? Ever? Testing more or less isn't going to change the number that dies from COVID. What it WILL do is keep the case numbers ever increasing, so the panic can continue to be stoked.

You're probably one of those gullible ones who, had you been asked in August, you would have sworn we'd all be back in lockdown by now, schools closed, teachers dead, etc.

We test for flu all the time, but it has a different purpose. It helps the doctor know whether to prescribe antiretrovirals vs. looking for a bacterial infection or other problems to a person who already has symptoms and is looking for treatment.

Testing more or less isn't going to change the number that dies from COVID.
It sure does change the number, because unlike with flu, a large number of people with mild or no obvious symptoms can still be spreading Covid. If you know, you can isolate yourself until you're negative and avoid spreading it to other people. If you don't know, you might keep spreading it. Maybe you're one of those people who don't care and wouldn't isolate anyway, but at least it gives other people a chance to do the right thing.

What it WILL do is keep the case numbers ever increasing, so the panic can continue to be stoked.
It continues to amaze me that people look at hundreds of thousands of Americans dying and still say that trying to reduce even a reasonable percentage of deaths is all about "panic."
