Our player's club has attended a few of the recent friendlies, along with the past fall season, & we as parents have also attended. Having first hand experience, we can confidently state that we have never seen any overcrowding or any behavior that would contribute to virus spikes. To us, the speculation that these friendlies contribute to covid spread is misguided. We are certainly concerned about our present health issues, we are parents afterall. However, we feel sure these youth soccer events are not being organized with a blind eye to keeping people safe, especially our kids. It seems to us that its possible the ones that are fearmongering the youth soccer landscape are ones that are on the outside looking in. Again, we have attended some of these events & our experience has show people are not being foolish or defiant.
And to comment on the upcoming Stars event, https://events.gotsport.com/events/d...?EventID=79358, isn't this event an uncommon gathering of some top state teams that would otherwise not compete together due to league logistics? Seems like a good event to spectate, even if no "dog in the fight"

In two weeks we will have spikes of Covid from those gatherings but not from games or tournaments where everyone is wearing masks. It’s the unmasked parties, drinking, eating, hugging and laughing that’s where Covid spreads.
Tell that to the hockey people

Hockey has a different set of issues.

Ever try to clean hockey equipment? That stuff is a haven for infections under the best of circumstances.

Absolutely has to do with the equipment.

Absolutely absurd. Parents are watching just the same as any other club and everyone is respecting the masks while watching. Get a life

It's carpools, lock rooms, and small bench areas that affected hockey. None of which are a concern for soccer if you don't carpool.

Duh. Crowded locker rooms with infected equipment and players turning over every 90 minutes.

                                Friendlies

I haven't heard of many if any cases of covid from soccer. That being said there were teams that dropped out of the last 2 weekends. That means players or families were exposed. Those teams did not play, so the games went on. Of course of a player did not have symptoms and was not tested there is some risk. Personally I think parents should stay in the car or home reduce the crowding but who want to drive to games and not watch.
