    Colleges love that sh/t.
Hey douche the poster made the point of doing something meaningful. Sounds like you're projecting tour family's experience

Winter sports are in trouble. Hockey especially. But basketball and wrestling are high risk. North Branford hockey arena shutdown due to a massive out break of Covid

Actually CIAC lists basketball as moderate risk, which I don’t really understand?

The NBA had several outbreaks right when Covid shutdowns were starting, but that was before there was testing, protocols and masks. Maybe the thinking is that for actual games the contact isn't that much and if teammates and coaches all have masks etc

The close contact in basketball is significant. Think about this, girls volleyball is also played indoors and players were required to wear masks during games AND they do not even touch the opposing players at all. The current plan for HS basketball doesn’t mandate masks. How can that be possible? Regarding NBA players, they were literally in a bubble, a luxury not afforded to HS players.

I believe the outbreaks the NBA pre shutdown were all teammate to teammate, but I could be wrong. Was there any cross team spread? Totally agree the NBA bubble can never be replicated, which is why the NBA has pushed back the 20-21 season start date a few times and shortened the season. College bball is also up in the air.

The NBA outbreaks were from players breaking the bubble and spreading it. Not from practice or games. College Bball might not happen bc they can’t replicate the bubble and kids spread it in dorms and shared bathrooms.

No the poster was talking about back in March when covid was blowing up. There were some NBA cases within teams but I don't think one team spread it to another. Yes once in the NBA bubble that was different. Baseball almost didn't happen because of a shaky start but players got their sh it together and started behaving so they could get paid their million dollar contracts. Football, both college and pros, have had their team based outbreaks but have mostly been able to play.

Completely agree basketball should be high risk. Also I find it puzzling that as of now they’re calling for a regular state tournament for winter sports (all indoors). How can that be the case and the only thing they’ll do for soccer and field hockey is a post season experience stating within their “regions”? None of it makes any sense. The situation hasn’t improved at all, in fact it’s getting worse.

Just because they're saying it now doesn't mean it will happen. Take everything one week at a time

Agree, but why even say it now? If they’re playing fall sports under MORE restrictions than what’s proposed for winter, it just makes zero sense. Nothing is improving, why give kids false hope? The fall was a PR train wreck for the CIAC and DPH. Haven’t they learned anything from that? Why not under promise and over deliver? They’re complete idiots.

Hockey and Basketball will not get played nor will track or wrestling. Why ruin the kids year just say it.

Don't look to CIAC to say it; the way they jerked football around this summer/early fall was terrible. Be the parent and level with your kid if they're going to be impacted. Deep down kids know it too. They see what's going on, all talk about it.

Spot on! Glen L is a complete dolt. I’d prefer he say nothing at all until a Final decision is made.
