        Not fully funded....it is pay-to-play.
It is something they are throwing together for USL Cup. Seems like they are doing this to appease league office, nothing more to it.

Hartford Athletic is trying to play nice as the new kid on the block in CT youth soccer. However, to be taken seriously as the State's only pro soccer club they will have to start/invest in a real academy and put in the effort in developing local talent.

Are they afraid of ******* off BS, OW, FSA and CFC? Time to put the big boy pants on! Revs, NYCFC, and Red Bulls are the top of the pyramid, and HA should aspire to the same status.

HA has no money to fund a real academy.

A dad that sent his kid to a workout/tryout with a few other kids.

I wonder if OW will let players compete in the Cup. A good move might be to "loan" players. Good experience for the kids.

HA is in survival mode and I'm sure not looking to enter the youth soccer business!

That doesn't seem to jive with what the owner of HA said in the article attached in an earlier thread.

HA is asking players to pay for the 10-12 weeks of training leading up to the Cup. So you as a parent are being asked to reach into your pocket once again.....and oh by the way, the tournament is somewhere across the country, so be sure to include travel/lodging fees to your budget.

Yes, would be a great move for HA to roster 20 players and then take 10 OW players to the Cup! Sounds like ODP. I'd sign up again next year!

It is too early for HA to antagonize youth clubs in CT....they are treading very lightly, which is a smart move. Don't burn any bridges.

Yes, at some point in the future they will need to take the deep dive into development academy soccer. USL will push them to do it, and as the only professional soccer club in the State they need to make a commitment to the CT soccer community.

It will be interesting to see the costs, but do we think this would be a good opportunity for players?
