All State and other awards are BS and political. My kid was a bench warmer in high school who excelled at club, but apparently wasn't a brown-noser or didn't catch the coach's eye (in more ways than one...), and played D1 for four years (actually played, not just on the roster). True story.

That doesn’t make the award a joke. The award is based on performance. Can’t perform on the bench. The award doesn’t mean the kid is the best in the state talent wise, just that they performed the best on the field that year. My only qualm with the award is that once all state, hard to come off that list next year. Some kids should, either do to injury or just a poor year. Other than that, in general, the kids on the list every year are generally the best kids.
