Not to mention in the pay-to-play model, other player’s fees are subsidizing the scholarships so clubs never actually invest anything in a player. Compensation for US youth clubs is absurd.
Fundraisers, including tournaments, and coporate sponsorships, also offset fees for all players. Every bit helps to keep fees down, especially when a club is dealing with rising field costs, insurance, and operating expenses.
