Not the best player on 03 Revs. Revs have more talented players who set him up for tap ins, which is why he has so many goals. Also, a very lazy player does not enjoy pressuring or defending one bit, makes no effort to win the ball back after he loses. Not even the best 04 in the Northeast, Bolts has a kid or two who would start on that team. Nefc maybe as well, but the Bolts kids are older 04s and physically much stronger and mentally just have a better soccer iq.
As long as this kid keeps doing what he's doing well and scoring goals, leading to game wins, the Revs will keep giving him all the opportunities and he'll be considered one of the chosen ones.

The problem is that, if what I've been hearing all year is accurate, the Revs coaches really don't understand how to develop players. This kid, and his parents, will think he's doing really well and going far in the sport, because they see that he is a big value to the Revs right now. However, if the Revs ignore developing the rest of his game (sounds like he needs work defending) and if they allow him to coast through with a lazy mentality, in another couple of years they will be dropping him in favor of a kid who is good at tap-ins, can defend, and has a good work ethic. This kid and the parents will all be shocked and wonder what happened. It's sad really, because he's young enough now that he can probably fix some of these problems, but the Revs won't put the effort into fully developing him (or simply don't know how), and it will be too late to when they realize he's been passed up.

He's not awful, that is harsh and unfair.

He's probably the 3rd best attacking player in the Northeast DA in the 2004 age group. Best 04 striker is the big Seacoast kid who also plays up to 2003. The NEFC 05 is also a better all-around player. If we're truly being objective I don't think there is any disagreement there.

This kid scores goals but needs to improve his work rate - that's pretty clear. He needs to track back, and learn how to defend and immediately because most coaches and programs, not to mention teammates, won't accept laziness. When you take a dive and are slow to get up when you should be hustling to win the ball back, that is unacceptable. How the coaches don't lean into him for this I have no idea.

He's almost in a trap situation right now because he's allowed to play this way. He's the star of the show, but for how long that is the question.

He's not the star of any show, but a star in the Rev's mind. There's a difference. So it's worse. It's too bad, but more so for the other players.

Any of the crackpot Revs parents want to give a scouting report on the 15 03s that have collectively scored fewer goals than this 04 kid?

Sure, they did all the work for him or the coaches gave him all the PK's.

Yes he's on pens but most of his goals are from open play. You know this.

For the other players, they see how long it takes for them to make a mistake. For the 04, they see how long it takes for them to see something, anything, and then he's back on top with his tap ins. It doesn't do the player any good and someday, the players just won't pass to him anymore. It's already happening.
The players are already not passing to him? At the 2004/2003 level? Your team must have a bunch of real cut-throat loons, huh? That type of attitude typically holds out for another year or two. Sounds like the parents are teaching their kids young (if this is true).

No worries. It's not like we don't know the Revs parents are jealous morons. Next year those 15 boys together might actually match his total.

That's one thing we like about Bolts. Yes they try to work it to the main striker but the 2nd leading goal scorer is a center back. Lots of different players score goals, really good midfielders are unselfish and they actually play as a team.

Kid has a nose for the goal. He's carrying that team of underachievers.

I am looking forward to seeing his progression over the next few years!

He is who they want to develop. Get used to it.

Actually it's the under-appreciated center back. He covers the entire back line. Take a look at the left and right backs and you'll see what I mean.

Defense is where they hide boot ball players. Boot it! Boot it! Boot it!

That's where the Revs place the wannabee but not good enough mids. You can't ask them to be creative AND play defense.
