Doubt the private school will pull her "financial aid" because she can't join the school soccer team until December after the GDA showcase. The poor player and the poor private school have their hands tied by the big bad GDA.

Crazy idea, but maybe, just maybe, you may need to actually READ your contract and follow the rules. Even crazier idea, you might just have to tell your little Mia that she cannot have it all. I know that is tough, especially in Weston, but it may have to happen.

That being said, different rules or expectation are not being made for GDA players specifically. Have seen players come in later in the season for many years for different reasons. Heck, I know of a private school that that gave academic scholarships during football season and then the kid returned to public school after football season.

This time around, it is a ton of players, not just one or two so everyone has their panties in knots. Most because their kid likely returns to the bench, some because they think their HS might have a chance at winning state now that the more talented players are out and some because they simply have an ax to grind with DA. Few are really and truly viewing this from the moral high ground as the claim to be.

Guess will see what happens on Dec 11th.
Your example of the football player still involved him playing for the entire high school football season. What else is high school sports for but to take the most elite players whenever they can get them even if it means taking ten GDA players in January because the high school must win. It is the high school mission to protect players and to not let the players' club leagues keep them from the high school experience therefore the high schools will allow GDA players to do whatever they want and join the high school teams in January. Everyone is forgetting that the football or soccer players have a choice to come start playing soccer for the school for the entire period. GDA has grandfathered all the players into being able to play high school soccer and the player only has to let their club know and stop participating in GDA for the entire high school season. The problem is that players want to do both, but in life there are hard choices and moral choices to make. The GDA players knew what they were signing up for, to play high school or to not play high school and it was not about trying to work their way onto the high school team in January in time for the playoffs when DA had its recovery month off for players.

Great logic except you aren't in their position. That's why their a private school they can do whatever they please. Maybe not this year, but they won't be affected in the long run. I am not one that is affected, but I know it isn't that easy. Stop defending the actions of both CP and MP and weston as a club. From the start they told us that we would be able to play both. Liars are getting exposed

The problem is we were told we would be able to do both from the start! People voiced their concerns and Carlos Parra told us that it wasn't an issue. The majority of his 04 GDA team played middle school soccer and GDA at the same time. We were told we could do both and the younger team was allowed to play school soccer so we had no reason to assume it would be different.

If they told you that you could do both, they meant high school soccer from October to February with no GDA participation during that time, and then GDA before and after the high school season is over. You have the USSFDA rule book that says so, and Weston said you could do both .. you just can't do both at the same time.

Private schools can't ethically give athletic scholarship money so no private school can say you have to play soccer to receive money.

That's not what they meant. They knew what was going on and allowed us to play high school soccer from the tryouts and games. USSF found out and that's why they are panicking.

Okay you started the high school season then were supposed to stop all GDA participation. Are you saying Weston was allowing you to do the high school stuff and the Weston stuff at the same time? That is a big No No under the USSFDA rules. Who is running Weston GDA?

The good news is all the weston gDA players tried out for high school and have already played a few games. Now they can bat their eyelashes to the high school coaches and say our hands are tied and we must go complete our DA duties and we have no control over our big bad DA and please take us back onto the high school team in a month. The weston players are closer to meeting the 10 game requirement to be eligible to play in the high school playoffs.
